Hi!
I’m looking for an elongated (minimum 1.2 l/w ratio) antique cushion/old mine cushion with a $70k~ budget. I am located in Los Angeles. Any jewelers you would recommend? And realistically what do you think I can get with my budget? Thanks so much!

Hello and welcome to the forum! It sounds like you have a very exciting project on the horizon. Lucky for you, LA is one of two major diamond districts in the country, along with NYC. So with your budget, you should have no trouble finding lots of options locally. Otherwise, I'm sure our resident diamond experts will be along to point you in the right direction. Good luck!

Jewels by Grace, for sure! She has this, which gives you an idea of size for the budget:

Hello! I’m not sure what you mean by 1.2 l/w ratio. Does this mean elongated? Before you buy you need to understand what you want and what’s out there.

What color range
What carat range
Please post photos of stones you admire so people can see both cut style and shape.
1) Real antique or 2) modern cut antique style, or 3) a modern superideal antique style?
What Type of setting do you have in mind (photos)
What are your min and max dimensions In mm?
Have you ever tried on an antique diamond of the type you have identified?

My recommendation is for you to become familiar in discussions here about what you are actually looking for. I suggest you look through PS threads and identify stones and rings you like. There are local LA dealers of antique diamonds, and there are trusted vendors in other places you can engage with, once you know.

Ummm...there's three actually. Houston. (And H-Town has the other two locals beat for MRB super ideal vendors, though I know that's not what the OP is asking about.)

Thank you everyone for your response!

For color, I read to be open since antiques are more white than modern. Carat I’m still researching. Looks like it’s around 3-4 Based on my budget but of course I’d love to get 5

I attached some photos of diamonds and setting I liked.

for the style I wasn’t aware about the 3 antique styles. I’ve only learned about: antique, brilliant and crushed.
I haven’t tried any on, I’m very new so looking at this forum to educate myself more. I’m going to a couple jewelers next week!

Hi, I also had a similar budget and ended up deciding I HAD to have an antique cushion/old mine cut. Antique cuts rarely are above a J cut apparently, and I wanted an authentic one.

I showed my bf some K colored ones I like and think he got me one! (I believe around 5 ct). Msg me if you want to chat!

(and even saw an M color in person that still was gorg). It showed color but was still beautiful. See pics for M color.7CB63E90-D741-422F-B149-3EA98443B833.jpeg

Doesn't Victor Canera also have newly cut antique style cushions? I can't seem to get to his website right now.
