First off, thanks to all for your comments here - I have learned a ton. I have narrowed the world to two diamonds and I am strongly leaning towards one from James Allen where I have heard great things. The diamond is below and is the following:
1.72 Radiant cut
E Color
VS2 Cut
60.2 depth
62 table
$12.7k

- Can you help confirm that this idealscope looks good
- Does this sound like a good price/ deal to you
- How would you compare this to a 1.85 G Original Radiant Cut ($13.7k)?

THANKS

I like it! I''ve only seen a few ideal scope radiant pics. They show more leakage than rounds so don''t be alarmed about that, and this stone is among the better pics I''ve seen. I like the proportions on this stone, definitely something I would consider buying. This stone will face up pretty large too since it''s not cut deep, people might think it''s 2 carats. James allen also has a great return policy in case you aren''t thrilled when you get it, but I think you will be! By the way, be sure to ask him for the pricescope discount, it''s about 5% with the bank wire. You have to ask for this in order to get the discount. As far as getting this over an origional radiant, I don''t see any reason to pay the premium for an origional when you''ve already picked a stone with a nice cut. I''d love to see some pictures of the stone when you get it, I think it''s going to be a gorgeous stone.

Thanks kcoursolle - all feedback certainly helps. I have been reading up on radiants and this does seem like it is cut in the right range however many people here have certainly said that radiants can not be taken strictly by the numbers so my question is if not, then how do you evaluate one (when I have really bad eyes for these things and my GF has really good eyes and I am trying to do this without her)?

Well, I''m not that knowledgeable about radiants, but I have seen a fair number of ideal scopes and most of them I''ve seen have a lot more light leakage than the image you posted. So far, it looks really promising.

Mickel, would you mind posting the full cert info and any other info you have about the stone? It might help others to evauate it.

So the stone is:
GIA Cert
1.72 E VS2
Depth: 60.2% Table:62%
Girdle -tk Culet: No
Sym: Ex Polish: Vg
L: 7.48 W: 6.74 D:4.06 (L:W 1: 1.11)

Think that''s all I have got

The Original Radiant (Grossbard) I am considering is a 1.76 G VS2 with a L:W of 1.12 but I don''t have any more details on it right now

The only thing I''m not excited about is the thick girdle. However, the depth on this stone will make up for this and it will still appear pretty large without sacrificing on cut quality. I''m not seeing anything that is a reason not to buy this stone. I love the VG/EX polish/symmetry. While they are not that important on their own, to me they are signals of attenton to detail by the cutter.

The IS looks nice...it looks like a lovely stone!!!

I will have a Sarin report to add to this tomorrow

great, I''d love to see the crown info.

So here is the Sarin...

The table is off from the cert info by 3%, or am I missing something? I''m afraid I have to head out for the holiday, but I''ll when I come back I''ll try to comment more. The crown height looks fine, should be a good balance between fire/brilliance.

It looks really pretty and this diamond certainly received praise from James Allen''s team - do I need to worry about the crown angle being low though?

And a picture...

the crown height is lovely, no need to worry. I''m a little concerned that the table is 3% off from the cert. I would expect it to be a little off, but you might want to ask about it. The picture looks great, I wouldn''t hesitate to buy it. I would also trust Jim Schultz''s opinion, he''s an honest guy. I bought my radiant from him too and am very happy.

Back from vacation and curious...Did you get it?!! I''d love to see pictures if you did.

I have been on vacation as well - I will be ordering the stone tomorrow and I will post pictures later in the week when I get it

yayers!!! I can''t wait to see pictures, it''s a beautiful stone. How do you think you will set it?

So the stone will arrive on Friday along with a matched pair of trillions (.38 cw for the two). It should be great. Pictures to come...
