Help please! I need recommendations on reputable jewelers in the Los Angeles area that are NOT in the jewelry district.

I''ve searched the forums and used the other search function on Pricescope, but am not coming up with much besides 23rd St. Jewelers in Santa Monica. The other recommendations seem to be mostly diamond setters or specialists in antique settings, which I am not looking for. I searched online at Yale Jewelers, Bracken Jewelers and Liberty Diamond Cutters (all found on Pricescope) and they seem to have next to zero inventory for engagement rings.

I''m looking for a simple but exquisite quality platinum setting for a princess-cut solitaire (which I don''t have yet, so I''d also like to ask the jewelers about loose stones). Budget between $1,000 - $2,000 if the setting includes sidestones (less if it doesn''t).

This is a setting that I love (except with a princess cut not an eightstar).

Can anyone help?

Sarah Leonard''s in Westwood. Three generations, 10 GIA gemologists. They have an excellent selection too. I''ve shopped there for years.

there''s also peter norman in brentwood.

Single Stone''s shop in San Marino is mainly non-antique jewelry...you might call them first though but Ari mentioned that the clientele there prefer non antique pieces so it''s worth a try. They carry a lot of major designers there I think.

Kind of far, but Custom Goldsmith in Santa Ana. Family owned, three generations, excellent craftsmanship. Harry is the jeweler, so talk to him.

My jeweler is Oscar''s Design Jewelry in LA. His website is www.oscarjewelry.com . I''ve bought most of my jewelry from him - he has a large selection of mountings. Good luck!

SL is good, so is 23rd Street which is my fav, but you already know about them...

23rd Street is good. I know the owners from way back, and it is very pricey. But their stuff is great.

I also know people who like 14 carats. It is in Beverly Hills and it is written in Roman numerals.

Have shopped at both but not in years.
