Please Help. I am very close to purchasing this stone, but I am wondering if this is a fatal flaw of the stone. There is a small inclusion in one of the corners of the stone. I have circled it in the picture. Is this a fatal flaw? I have read about how much princess cuts have a tendency to chip. Does this feather increase the chances of chipping the corner?? I am buying the stone from a reputable seller. He has inspected the stone and says it is not an issue as long as the stone is set properly. I trust him, but it doesn''t hurt to get a someone else''s theories regarding the inclusion so close to the corner.
Thanks!!!

Also........if the inclusion is not an issue if the stone is set properly......How should the stone be set???? What kind of prongs etc......

Thanks

ss

i would trust wf if they sat it can be set. have them set it though because they will guarantee the setting job.
as far as prongs, i would go v-caps. i think they look great and they protect the corners well.
best of luck!

Belle,

how did you know the seller of the stone was????????????? i never said ANYTHING about who the seller was...

hehehe...not really. pretty much anyone that has been here for any length of time would know. wf has a certain set up that is very consistent and recognizable. also, they title their 40x mags a certain way.

that''s believable..

oh good because it''s true!

What is the girdle size - I am wondering if that could figure into how fragile (or not) that corner might be?

The girdle size is slightly thick to thick according to the GIA report and 0.15mm according to Sarin report.

Ditto to what''s been said - I would let whoever told you it won''t be a problem if set correctly...do the setting of the stone!! I would be quite wary of buying a stone with an inclusion there if I ever wanted anyone except the seller of the stone to do the setting of it.

why not get it appraised? see what a second opinion says?

Even better idea.

thanks for the advice!

Another option for setting the princess (prongs) is a single claw. I had my ER remounted with a single claw and I like it better than the V caps=)
