Looks really good to me in terms of cut!! From your post I assume it's not a H&A, is it?

What do I think of this diamond...

A show stopper and well priced to boot ! It seems like no one bothered to look for harts and arrows there, but I would be surprised if they weren't up to the call.

thanks....i will probably go for it after a few more good responses. thanks for all your help.

The diamond scores well on the HCA. 1.1, TIC, Ex/Ex/Ex/Vg. Good potential to be a great performer!

For Cut Class 1A, PS Vendors average asking price is $3055.

For an H&A, PS Vendors average asking price is $3390.

If you found this diamond locally, you've done very well on price.

I didn't find this locally, but I do think it's a great price and will probably pick it up tomorrow. I'd like to run a B-Scope on it, but would it be overkill? From these specs, can I play the statistics/probability game and have it in my favor as an excellent performer?

Thanks!

Looks like a beauty, good price. The Bscope would probably confirm it. You would not have any regrets.

thanks! the diamond is officially on hold and i will purchase it after some good ol' research and replies to this thread. thanks again wveryon for your help. you guys are really great.

Brilliance Scope... why not if the seller has it. The tool has the reputation of reading what a diamond looks like under direct lighting, rather than your average wear conditions (weaker, indirect light). This could be just some minor bias, and some direct analysis of optical performance is better than none. However, some considered this a significant detraction, and alternative devices (such as the ISee2) address just this.

In my view, there would be little use from hunting down the perfect machine on top of the involved process of choosing a stone. If you can get the stone with some return period (and it does not need to be long), it may be far better to get one of those inexpensive Ideal Scope (or some version of it) toys and try it yourself on the stone. This exercise has a clear advantage, in my view: you can do it yourself and you can directly see the relation between scope result and the appearance of the stone in different lighting conditions. Did you see those "diamond in the dark" pictures on the "Show me the ring" forum ?

There is no test for that kind of "optical effect" yet

thanks for all the comments. i went ahead and brought the stone last night and am looking forward to seeing it in person. i'd still like to see what everyone else's opinion is, so keep the thread and comments rolling.

Well, the stone checks out great. Thanks again for all your help and I'll post a pic as soon as I finish up with the setting.
