Hi All,

Thanks for all the help you guys are providing.

I need help in selecting e-ring and hope you guys would help. Before posting in the forum I read so many post and learned a lot. So I have selected rings one from James Allen, One from White Flash and another from a local store (expensive and out of my budget).

Details for the James Allen,
Ring setting Link
Diamond Link [It is a 0.51 Carat G-VS1 Hearts & Arrows Ideal Cut Round]

Details for the White Flash,
it is a 0.51 ct G VS1 Round and Image is attached

James Allen is $200 Cheaper and both the symmetry and polish is excellent

Also, I am kind of scared doing such big purchase online....could you guys please help me with this? How do you guys service your purchase after buying it? Local store give service plan where they give services free and if a diamond is chip it will be replaced?

I would really appreciate your guys help....

Thanks so much

Is that a picture of the ring you purchased or have you still not purchased a ring yet (I a little comfused
19.gif
)?

You should insure your ring to make sure that if it gets stolen/chipped/lost it will be covered and you can replace
it. You can usually go to any jewelry store and ask them to check the prongs and clean it. They usually dont
mind providing this service because they would like you as a customer.

As far as buying from JA or Whiteflash you can buy with complete confidence. There have been tons of people
on this forum that have bought online and have been very happy with their purchases.

The JA stone looks very good (I''m not expert but the numbers are all in the range that are recognised as
good specs). Did you run it through the HCA?

Hope this helps

HCA stands for holloway cut advisor...here is the link... You aim for stones to score under 2.0. You use it to
eliminate stones. Like anything that scores over 2.0 most people wont consider unless cost is your main
concern. Lower numbers (like .9 vs 1.6) doesnt mean any better so dont get caught up in that.

My rings are insured though my home insurance. If you have home insurance or renters insurance
I would start by asking them. If not there are some specific insurers...I will try to find links for them.

These are a few I found. Hopefully someone else can chime in with some more.

Thx tyty333,

That is something new I learned. following are the HCAs

For white flash I got -1.4
Light Return Excellent
Fire Very Good
Scintillation Very Good
Spread Very Good

For James Allen Stone. - 1.7
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread Very Good

Does this mean James Allen Stone is better? Please let me know....

No. The HCA is an elimination tool, designed to take an outline of the stone and give a basic idea of whether or not it is worth the time to pursue further (anything scoring under 2 is worth getting more information on). Keep in mind that the numbers entered into the cut advisor are averages of the 8 crown facets and the 8 pavillion mains, so it is looking at only 16 of the 57 facets on the stone (hence the outline reference). The variation in the angles and the so-called "minor" facets will have a great part to play in the overall look and performance of the stone.

An Idealscope or ASET image will tell more than the HCA. The JA stone you posted is very nice. Do you have IS or ASET for the WF diamond?

The WF stone looks great, also. Either one would be a good choice.

A couple things to consider in additon to cost:

-setting--maybe it's just the photos, but the JA setting seems to be narrower and a little more delicate in appearance, the WF a touch wider. Which would your gf prefer? (keep in mind that a wedding band will someday sit next to it, as well)

-vendor policies--the trade-in and upgrade policies for the two companies are different if that may ever be a concern. Make sure to review those.

Whichever you choose, good luck.

If trading up is a possible option some day ...here is what I found...

Whiteflash gives 100% credit for original diamond towards the purchase of a new diamond

James Allen gives 100% credit for original diamond towards the purchase of a new diamond that
cost twice as much as the original diamond.

tyty333,

Thank for looking those up wow....ur great....

Sorry for my ignorance what is trading? You basically do not like what you have in the near future? (which I doubt the case) Or something happened to the diamond?

Thanks,

Not necessarily in the near future, although sometimes that''s the case. Sometimes people upgrade their stones for anniversaries, or if they started with a smaller diamond and can later afford a larger one etc. It''s not the case with everyone, but if you think it''s a possibility, it might be something to consider.

The James Allen setting appeals to me more. The head seems to flow with the shank better for some reason.
