Hello! I recently got engaged and the ring that my fiancée gave to me was a ring that belonged to his grandmother. His grandfather is dead and his grandmother has Alzheimer's, so the story of the ring is a mystery to me. I would like to interview his other relatives to try and find out as much about the ring's history as I can. In the meantime, I was hoping some knowledgeable people here may be able to help. I would also like to try and find an appraiser that can do a ring this old some justice.

Here's what I have found out so far.
1. The ring is stamped "10%IRID" on the inside of the band, which I think means the remainder is 90% Platinum.
2. The center stone and one of the side stones look to be of a "checkerboard" type of pattern, and I was wondering if this is the "old European" cut. The other side stone looks like a more modern brilliant cut, so I would assume a stone was lost at some point and replaced with a newer cut diamond.

Other than that, I don't know much about it, so I have included pictures so that hopefully somebody out there can help me date the ring, identify the cuts, and find an appropriate place for appraisal.

Thanks for your help! Here are some pics:

Anybody know the cut(s) at least?

That is a beautiful ring. The centre stone looks more like a transitional cut than an OEC, the crown is lower and it has small culet. Not sure of age, maybe 1940s?

Yes, it's platinum. The center stone and one side stone are transitional cut (between OEC and modern), and the other side stone is a modern round brilliant.
