From the gemologist:

I'm happy to inform you that you have two beautiful options to consider! The gemologist's personal favorite is diamond #1 because it offers excellent fire, brilliance, and scintillation. It's the brightest and liveliest diamond of the two. Its medium blue fluorescence has no negative impact on its beauty and actually gives it a slight color boost. It's icy white in color and close to being an "F." Additionally, it has a gorgeous cut and appears completely eye clean.

Diamond #2 is very bright and lively as well, ranking a strong second for light performance. It has a true, white "G" color, a beautiful cut, and faces eye clean. This diamond looks just as gorgeous in person as diamond 350804.

You cannot go wrong with either of them! If you want to go with the gemologist's personal favorite, then you'll want to move forward with diamond #1. However, if you prefer to have a diamond that is one carat, then you should go with #2, since they are so comparable to each other.

Diamond #1 is $5,720 and Diamond #2 is $5,910

Thoughts please besides I should have told him Gypsy had selected these so of course I would have two beautiful options?

#1, hands down.

Definitely #1.

And I found a #3 possibility for $100 more:

Carat Weight: 1.00
Cut: Excellent
Color: I
Clarity: VVS1
Lab Name: GIA
Depth: 61.70
Table: 56.00
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: STK
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Ratio: 0.00
Measurements: 6.40x6.43x3.96

So does this change anyone's mind. Now my biggest concern is performance vs size. I brought up to the gf about .9 vs 1 ct and she stated that she would just refer to it as being a ct. This leads me to believe that the 1ct size is important. Does #1 perform that much better than #2 or #3?

#1 and I am very happy it worked out for you!

You can get 3 as well. I'd pass on 2.

#2 turns you off that much Gypsy?

Which vendor is supplying these?

Deez - I've used James Allen for the top two and don't recall #3

And just because I don't like to be easy, I looked at another diamond, this time going with an I is significant more reasonable (about $400):

Thoughts compared to #1 or #3-

Opinion of reviewer: "I think that feather may be visible from certain angles, but will be mostly invisible. The most visible part of it near the girdle could be hidden under a prong of the setting"

Additional thoughts? Have a 2 pm EST deadline on #1 and don't want it to get away...

I think you should speak with your lady. I would go with the G personally if it were me. But at this point, it's all a matter of personal preference. And the preference should be hers, not ours. There is no bad decision. Just do what is right for you at this point.

Thanks again Gypsy...I casually spoke to her about it, asking if she would prefer an ever so much smaller diamond to a larger one if the smaller one was a nice diamond and more lively but less than the magically 1 ct. She said she would probably pick the more lively diamond.

I really had my heart set on #2 and was hoping it would be the winner, but it looks like I might have to dip down to .9. Thank you everyone for your assistance. Now I guess it is time to find the setting.

Here is the follow-up from customer services (which has been excellent at JA):
I can see what areas of the idealscope image are causing your concern, but keep in mind that the gemologist confirmed that it's a very bright and lively diamond. While it was ranked as your second brightest, it's by no means a diamond with lackluster light performance. The gemologist would have noted light leakage if it was there and noticeable. It's important to know that the gemologist who inspects the diamond never sees the idealscope images, so they report strictly on what their critical, trained eye sees when inspecting the diamond. That being said, if you were to purchase this diamond and see it in person, I'm 99% sure you wouldn’t return it.

I see that diamond 4 was added to the hold and that you were interested in having it inspected alongside the others. Due to the time we can keep diamonds on hold, I will not be able to have it serviced an inspected alongside the others, but I believe I already have the information necessary to consider where it stands in your lineup. Diamond 4 was inspected by our gemologists just two weeks ago and you'll see that I've attached its idealscope image to this email. Additionally, when the gemologist inspected the diamond, they said that it has great light performance, a beautiful cut, a true "I" color, and that its feather is visible to the unaided eye. It sounds like its light performance is comparable to the ones you've already had inspected.

What is the setting?

We'll the setting is on hold until I find the diamond again. I mistaken thought JA had extended the hold - turns out not to be true. I went to purchase the .9 and it was sold. Congrats to whoever purchased it - pretty stone. Options 2 & 3 were also sold. Back to square one.

Oh no. I'm sorry. What's your budget again? Let's be a little quicker this time!

I had misread the email. I had thought it stated if I hadn't selected in the first 24 hours that an additional 24 hours would be given. Instead, it was only if I didn't reply.

My budget all together is below $7k for the complete package, but my pocket book would be happier around $6.5k.

In a moment of weakness I stopped by a b & m on the way home from work and put a deposit on an uncertified stone. Complete package is $6,500 but I want to follow up with the owner on Saturday. Was told he will stand by his grading as it is more reliable than GIA and that he use to work for GIA, so I explained that I want the stone graded by GIA at my cost & if his grading holds true I will purchase it.

I don't think "weakness" is the accurate description. You will pay 350 and wait for over a month for a GIA report. Instead just buy a lab graded stone somewhere reputable for the love of god.

Any place that tells you their grading is better than GIA is not reputable. That's a snake oil salesman.

Gypsy- Last piece of advise - any of the JA you would consider over the original two? Spoke w/ JA today and although the original two are marked as sold on the site - they are still available to me?

No. I like the originals. IF they are available. Those are what I'd advise to buy!

One real last question, if I have a hang up about a carat - is #2 that bad performing? That I should throw that hang up out the window? In other words, is #1 that much nice looking?

After looking at it again, I went with option one the .9. The idea scope was just to big of a difference. It looks like it is going to be a great diamond. Thank you again for everyone's help.

I think you made a very smart choice. GOOD JOB!
