Hi, I have read many informative threads here and I am new to purchasing/choosing diamonds. I have learned some basics through research but seems many people here are so well informed. I have been trying to choose a diamond and setting for about 5 weeks. Even ordered and cancelled 2 settings with stones I chose from Blue Nile and James Allen Both from uncertainty. Can anyone please advise me what the best options are on a 5-6k budget for both diamond and setting? I was trying to get a unique setting (Monique Lhuillier) and a conservative diamond that is still "quality" but not under 0.75 ct. I am confused as to whether to invest in platinum setting that she will love or to get a larger diamond and upgrade setting later? Any ideas welcome and appreciated. Please feel free to tell me what you would prefer as the recipient???? Overwhelmed ....My love is worldly and will appreciate any sentiment but will know the quality of diamond/setting.
My initial choice was the Monique Lhuillier Princess Cut Halo plat setting with a 0.83 HVS2 Signature Ideal Princess Cut (their supposed finest cut that is most brilliant with excellent light performance)From Blue Nile. Price was 5,900 total.
I would prefer to get the diamond from Blue Nile if at all possible but setting maybe elsewhere? Open to all.
