I have spoken with Todd (Nice Ice) and Jonathon (GOG) and both say their diamonds are eye clean and GORGEOUS!! An (emphatic) G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!!

I called the one PS independent appraiser listed in my area....they **no longer** accept loose stone deliveries from on-line vendors. I am in the process of trying to locate any others that Todd and Jonathan would be comfortable with. It may still be possible to view side by side.....but in the meantime......I am wondering:

Would YOU....flip a coin and just pick one of these diamonds....SIGHT UNSEEN?!?!

P.S. One stone has STRONG blue fluorescence ...the other NONE. Remember, I have never seen a fluorescent diamond. If I go to my local B&M...do I walk in and tell them I would like to see a STRONG blue fluorescent diamond?? Look at it, walk over to the window, look at it, return it to the sales person, thank them and tell them I will think about it and walk out?!??!? Is each flourescent diamond different? Does a poor cut fluorescent diamond **Fluorese** differently than a quality cut?!?!?!?

P.P.S. Does anyone have a strong fluor. diamond they don''t like!??!

Thanks again for everyones time and input!! It is really helpful....to have you all weigh in on these things!!!!

Bobbi, could you relink us to the info on each diamond please, so we can compare once more?

I''m not an expert but you said you wanted everyone''s opinion so.....

If it were me I''d got to a B&M and ask to see both an H with no flouro and similar color (G,H,I) with med to strong flouro. Also I''ve read that the flouro can effect the stone in other ways like making it look cloudy maybe....so hopefully someone with more knowledge will pop in.

If I wasn''t totally in love with what strong flouro does to a stone after seeing it at the B&M I would go with the GOG stone. If the flouro made no difference or I liked it I''d go with the larger stone.

That''s just my opinion but I hope it helps.

As I continue to "shop" for an independent appraiser...my frustration rises.

I''ve pretty much been upfront with them and told them I have two stones (from on-line vendors) I am hoping to view the stones with them. And for the second time, I have gotten "attitude". I''m sure there are others in my city that will be cooperative and helpful, I just have not found them yet. I was using the on-line yellow pages, since I personally do not know of any. Pricescope only lists one in my city. There are only 4 in the entire state. I could drive to see them (couple hours away) but would rather not have to.

Still wondering if buying sight unseen is an option??

Has anyone else done it?!?!

I would appreciate anyone''s thoughts!!

I bought a stone from Jonathan site unseen and couldn't be happier. And it was an SI1 J, to boot! Personally, since the size difference is not signifcant (based on the dimensions listed on the certs), I'd go with the GOG stone. GOG has an awesome upgrade policy if you decide to upgrade later...

I like diamond B, it''s not that much smaller and it looks wonderful!!!

Thanks for the responses. KCCutie, ImpatientOne, and Triple. I appreciate you thoughts.

The independent appraiser I spoke with (although now I''m not so sure how ''independent'' he is....since he has access to sell diamonds (insurance replacements!) weighed in on the "fluorescent" issue. His thoughts were they should be deeply discounted because these are essentially less desireable and more difficult to sell. Any thoughts about this??

If anyone else has any personal experience with buying sight unseen or with advise working with an ind. appraiser, please chime in!!

I wouldn''t hesitate to buy the GOG stone because I see nothing objectionable about it. I''d probably have to see the other one in a lot of different lighting to determine what I thought about the strong floro. I also prefer VS2 clarity, so for me, I''d just choose the one from GOG and be done! I bought from GOG and WF without sending the stones to an appraiser, by the way.

I have a Crafted by Infinity Diamond with strong blue fluro (same as your stone A) and it is beautiful. In bright sunlight there is a faint blue that is very nice, and really adds to the overall sparkle of the stone.

Just my two cents!

I had a round brilliant with faint flourescene also. Had a light blue tint on a sunny day. It was really nice/neat. It is a hard decision to choose. Both stones look great. I just bought the 1.37 H&A F SI1 with Med Flourescene from Jon today. It may be a week till I receive it, but I can tell you how it looks in the sun when it gets here.

You asked for everyone''s opinion so here it is: I wouldn''t buy a stone with strong fluor. if I''d never seen a stone with fluor.

I just bought a J from WF, site unseen!! A J no less!! I posted here and asked for all comments and I asked Jamie to look at it with the others that we were considing. It came down to, did I trust the people here and Jamie. I had a strong feeling that the guys here would be very honest about it. And I felt like Jamie was honest too, she had no reason not to be, all of the others were WF diamonds too, so I felt she was being honest when she said it was wonderful and that it would be her pick out of all the others we were looking at. So I guess what I am saying is, Do u trust the people u are talking to? What is your gut feeling? And can u return it if its not exactly what u want?
Mine, by the way was just what Jamie said, WONDERFUL!!!!!!

Good Luck,
cwj
