I recently got engaged on May 25, 2008. It is a shared prong setting (thin band) with a 1.5 carat square radiant stone. I don't know what to do about a wedding band because the carriage of the ring sits right on my finger and is not raised at all! I have attached a pic. I have two others but don't know how to include them (i just registered today so bear with me!)

It looks like your setting is pave, so I'd go with a pave eternity band. That's what my w-band is, and I love it! You can probably find one (or have one custom made) to match the setting of your e-ring.

And I know what you mean about having trouble getting the w-band to sit flush against the e-ring. Mine does not sit flush, and I don't mind it . . . I think the little gap is kinda cool!

But, if a gap would bother you, maybe you could get a band made to "contour" your e-ring?

ETA: Can we see a hand shot???

That is a lovely engagement ring, good proportions between the size of the center stone and daintiness of the band. If there''s not too much of a gap I would go with a plain band of the same or slightly thicker dimmensions. I actually like a small gap better than flush bands. However, if the gap is really big I would go with a larger eternity or half-circle eternity and wear it on your right hand. I''m just not a fan of the curved bands made to fit around an engagement ring, they don''t look right and actually detract from your center stone.

I would get a band that has the same type of share prong pave style and try to get it really well matched in style. You could either get a regular band that doesn''t quite sit flush with your ring (i.e. there is a gap), or you could get one custom made that curves around the basket of your e-ring. I think either would look great!

You and I have the same problem. I have a plain band, but the basket of my ring is not raised, and I don''t like a gap. I''ve been checking B&Ms all over the place and found this ring at Jared, which is the best fit so far. I would check some B&M stores and possible get one custom-made based on which ones you like. Sorry about the pic quality; it''s a cell phone, and security was sorta buzzing around me so I had to snap it fast!

That''s exactly what i was thinking... I thought i wanted flush but the more i think about it, i think i will get a similar band because the gap won''t be so big. I tried on a friend''s small band with it and it looked good..... It''s just reallyn hard imagining the ring without actually seeing it! Thanks so much!!!

Thanks so much irish! I think that''s what i''m going to end up doing. I tried a friend''s band on and it actually didn''t look bad at all, it''s just hard imagining something i will wear everyday... Thanks so much for all of your help!!!!!!!!

jstar,

you are right, it wasn't exactly something i was thinking about when i saw it! that looks really good! I will probably go try both, but i was just having a hard time because i couldn't see that many examples to compare it to because all i see is engagement rings but not sure how the wedding bands look next to it..... My band was custom made so i didn't want to spend the money to custom make a band if i wasn't sure but it looks like i may not have to after all.... Thanks so much for the pic, it really helped!!!!!! Thanks!!!!

PS - Gorgeous, i love your ring!

Glad it helped, and thanks!

If I remember correctly, the band was shared-prong and would match yours well. If you can find a Jared, try it on! It was around $600 in WG and $1800 in platinum. I think when the time comes, I''ll try to get a quote from WF (who made my e-ring), and if it''s comparable to Jared''s prices, just go custom. They should be able to get a perfect fit since they have my CADs. Otherwise, I''m satisfied with the Jared band, although they''re known to be a bit overpriced and I think WF could do it cheaper.

If you ever intend to wear a diamond eternity ring on the same finger i.e. 3 rings in future then rather than have a curved diamond band, I would suggest going for a normal round diamond band so that in future you can wear a matching diamond band on either side of the central engagement ring.

In this instance the resulting gap will be balanced and would look good though of course whether you like that look is a matter of personal taste. The photo shows Ashlee Judd''s ring as an example of the triple band look. A number of my clients are ordering this triple band look when they choose their wedding rings though some will order one band when they get married and will wait for the birth of their first child or major anniversary to order the second matching band.

As to whether a gap is desirable or not depends on your taste. Many of my clients (albeit it may be more representative of European tastes) with delicate diamond bands like to have a small gap as it keeps the "delicate" or "vintage" look and from a practical point the rings are subject to less wear/tear which otherwise would occur if the rings with delicate bands were worn next to each other with no gap. Here is another example of this look.

My aim with these series of pictures is just to give you some food for thought.

Thanks Indira!

I actually saw Ashely's ring picture yesterday and loved it! This is what made me decide the gap wouldn't be so bad.... That is exactly what i needed, some pictures to see... It's hard to imagine what it will look like! Thanks so much for your help, i really appreciate it!

No problem - happy to help.

I would suggest that you visit some shops and try on 1 or 2 diamond bands next to your ring to give you an idea of what the set would look like. If the shops stock size is larger than yuor engagement ring, you have to hold the rings togther to visualise the effect - in other words, do not be put off by the stock shop ring being a different size to yours.

Keep us posted on what you decide.

is this soldered in the back? how is it kept separate? i think this would be beautiful with the OP''s ring.

This particular set of three rings are indeed joined at the back. The second non-celebrity set of rings is separate though
