Hi there...
I am planning to buy this diamond from Blue Nile in the next two days.
http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?pagename=GST%2FDispatcher&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&c=Page&cid=1355954554547&reportno=6121054203
It is a 1,51ct H colour, SI2 "eye clean" triple x diamond with a HCA score of 1.9 (depth: 61.4%, table 57%, crown angle: 34.5, pavilion angle: 41). The only issue I can see now is that it has very strong blue florescence. I have requested for Blue Nile to inspect the diamond and they said there is no negative effects of florescence like over blue or milky, hazy appearance, post inspection.
I understand some people online said this method is not reliable as Blue Nile is asking the vendor to inspect which could be bias. Just to be clear... I actually love florescence in diamonds... the glow of blue is cool! I just want to avoid the negative aspects (hazy appearance). Some people (including GIA) says this is rare, while others say it is very common. So I am not sure what to think.
Blue Nile does have a return policy but I rather get it right the first time. The GIA cert being dated April 2011...is this a red flag? As in why is this diamond not sold for that long (over 2 years since certification) or has it been returned before?
Does anyone or experts have any view on this diamond? Any advice or comments will be appreciated! Thank you!
Joe
