Question: I purchased a EC 3.63 GIA Certified stone. Measures 10.00 x 8.27 x 5.12 mm.
Depth: 61.9%
Table: 61%
Girdle: VT to Med
Cut: Small
Polish: Ex
Sym: Good
Clarity: F
Grade: IF
Flor: MB
Comments: None

It appears to fall into the premium depth and table, but yet the sym is only a good. The stone is quite bright for an EC and to the eye it could pass for a 4 ct.

I am concerned if I should return it for a lower grade and clarity cushion. I love the cushion too, and if I can get a larger stone that appears eye clean, would the money be better spent? After reading many threads, there is alot of chatting about grading on larger stones and how it would be smart to not shop by what it says on paper. Is this a better paper stone?

What are obvious reasons this make is not that great? Sym, Flour, both????

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!!!

Hello- welcome to PS!

I think YOU are the one that should make the decision about the diamond. How does it look to you? Yes the numbers are nice. As far as the symmetry "only being good", do not make that your end -all and- be-all...I have seen a lot of beautiful stones that have "good" symmetry...

The point is, if you like the stone, and it looks good to you and you love it, then keep it! If not, then don't! Buying a diamond is a huge decision both personally and $$$-wise, so you better be in love!

Sounds to me that you are not 100% satisfied- am I right? If not, then I suggest you return it and keep looking till you find a diamond that doesnt make you question anything....

Good luck!

What Dani said! If you love the diamond, don''t worry about the paper. You''ll be wearing the diamond after all, not the paper.

Yes, I agree that with fancy shapes more than rounds, you have to see them and decide if you love them. You just can''t go by the numbers. An emerald and a cushion are two different looks, so you''d just have to decide which look you favor most.

Thanks for your responses....

I am not sure if it is second guessing or the huge investment that has me second guessing my purchase. For the price of such a stone, i want a WOW effect!
