I have 3 RBC that I want to have made into a 3 stone anniversary ring. The center stone is 1.7 and the side stones are 1 carat each. I saw this setting and I have to have it. The setting was made to have clusters of rounds where the center and side stones would be. It is very hard to find a three stone setting (that isn't custom made) to accomodate my 3 stone sizes. But if the clusters weren't there, my stones would fit perfectly. I asked the jeweler if there was anyway to remove them and set my stones but he looked at me like I had an alien on my head. I didn't know if it was possible or not, but wanted to ask. He said - and I quote, "How do you expect me to do that?" IS it true that cannot be done? Just want to make sure he wasn't lying!! I don't know if he doesn't want to take the time to do it or if it really is impossible. Any advice on that would be appreciated!

Anyway the jeweler is trying to hunt down the manufacturer but hasn't been very helpful. It is killing me because this is my dream setting! The stones are set low and the cut down pave goes around the outside of all 3 stones. There is a double pave halo. The outer pave row splits off at the sides to form a delicate split shank with pave extending 1/2 way down. I don't want the traditional halo where the halo goes around every stone individually.

I have looked online everyhwere and can't find it. If you happen to know or have seen anything I would appreciate it. Otherwise, I am assuming I'll be paying $$$ to recreate it.

Thanks :)

I think with stones the sizes you have, you will definitely have to have the custom setting made. It is worth getting it done right. I highly recommend Victor Canera for pave.

You definitely could have such a ring made for you. I am pretty sure the ring in this picture could be converted, too, but it would be more likely not as good a job as getting a ring made to fit your own diamonds by a well trained jeweler. I'd recommend a fellow that I have had a wonderful relationship over a long time in Philadelphia. His name is Arthur at A&K jewelers. They only manufacture and have no retail facility, but they do work for consumers as well as with the trade. With the photos you have along with the diamonds you own, there ought to be no reason why you can't get the ring you want. Certainly, many other good jewelers can do such work, too, but this particular jeweler has the necessary skills to do it right and many just struggle to do a decent job. If you want a contact number for A&K let me know and I will post the phone number.

I have no financial connection or personal benefit in this. If it is improper to provide the contact info, I hope someone will let me know.

It's easy to make what you want. You just need a jeweler that does cad cam. :)

CAD/CAM is a modern method for creating jewelry, but it is not necessarily better than the work of a fine craftsman who makes items by hand or combines hand made creation with some stock components made for the purpose. It is a toss up sometimes, but I have seen many very lumpy, heavy CAD projects, along with several really nice ones. Just like with a hand made item, the skill of a CAD operator is definitely part of the quality of the outcome.

It is very nice to see the visuals of a CAD project although working with a hand made jeweler also has opportunities for visuals and further customer input. CAD does offer high degrees of precision which are crucial for tiny stone fitment such as the halos of this particular design.
