I think I agree with the general sentiment that if she''s a brand name gal he should head to Harry Winston or Cartier or even Tiffany.

I think it is fine (and fun

) to get the help of the soon to be mother-in-law to pick out an Ering. My fiance is very close with my mother and I''m sure she would have loved doing that if she had been presented with the opportunity. She lives five hours away though, so needless to say, he picked it out himself. Have fun!

What about Tacori? Just saw this one here

Ladies heavy platinum and baguette diamond engagement ring mounting by Tacori. The baguettes weigh .40ct total and the ring size is 6. Needs a 1.0ct ish center diamond. Great buy! Reg $2,950.00 Price: $1,200.00

I think it''s nice he is getting help from his FMIL. I would be thrilled when the time comes if Ashley''s fiancee asked me for my help in picking out her ering. Afterall we do know what our daughters like and what most importantly they don''t like.

No offense......My post was somewhat tongue in cheek. I do have a really good friend who found he needed his fiance''s (now wife''s) families approval and it has translated into a bit of interference in their lives after the wedding. I''m sure it''s a great thing that this gentleman is so involved that he wants to ensure his future bride receives a ring that will provide a lifetime of happiness.

Again, no offense.
