We just upgraded my wife's mall-quality e-ring for our anniversary, and I am now planning on having the old diamond used in earrings for her birthday. Since we spent more than we'd planned on the new ring, I am looking for assistance finding the most economical matching stone to use in the studs.
The appraisal we received with the old ring states:
Shape: RB
Weight: 0.49 ct
Color: J
Cut: Medium Good
Dimension: (4.92x4.90) x 3.19mm
I am comfortable with SI2 or I1 even if they are not eye-clean. And am not hung up on GIA certification for this purchase; just want to find a match at the most reasonable price possible. To be clear my wife would have been quite happy to head back to the mall to buy her new e-ring, so there is no issue about meeting her expectations in this regard.
I've used the loose diamond search tool extensively, but I don't know if I need to adjust the color and cut quality to account for the lab certification of the new stone versus the presumably generous grading standards used in the appraisal in order to find the best match.
Can anyone identify a few potential matching stones for me, or advise if I should be adjusting color/cut as provided in the appraisal?
