Hi Everyone! I am new to posting on this site but have been reading it for a while now. It has really been very helpful. I am finally going to propose to my girlfriend of 4 years and I am very excited!

Sorry for the long post but...

I''ve created a budget for myself of around $6000 for the diamond and the setting. I am hoping to get a round diamond with the following characteristics: around 1 carat, "Ideal" cut, at least H color, at least VS2. The setting I would like to get something with sidestones (white gold). Do you think I can find something with this criteria within my budget?

I''ve been shopping around and it looks like James Allen and WF might be too expensive for me

I started looking at Angara and they seem to have some nice stuff with some good prices. Does anyone have opinion about them? Do you think they would send me some pictures and more info like the other sites?

Here is a diamond I was considering: http://www.angara.com/diamond-details.do?pID=382162

This diamon scores pretty well on the HCA but I am just a little worried about the fluorescence. Will the medium-blue make a big differnece?

Round Brilliant - $5243 (before pricescope discount)
GIA cert:
Measurements: 6.31 - 6.37 x 3.92 mm
Carat Weight: 0.97
Color Grade: F
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Excellent
Proportions:
Depth: 61.8 %
Table: 57 %
Crown Angle: 34°
Crown Height: 14.5 %
Pavilion Angle: 41°
Pavilion Depth: 43 %
Star length: 60 %
Lower Half: 80 %
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: None
Finish:
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: Medium Blue

And here are the settings I like:

http://www.angara.com/customized-ring.do?diamond_pID=382162&ring_pID=8303&ring_price=595

Any advice and help would be greatly appreicated!!!

Thank you all!

Pish posh! JA and WF per se are not expensive; well I suppose it depends on what catches your eye. Are you looking at the 2-5ct rack, cause if so step away quietly! No really, I have found both companies to have great rates!

Re the Flour, I personally would not choose an F with it but I do not think it would impact the stone negatively unless the vendor says it makes it milky. Now here it come down to the vendor. Choose based on talent and customer service as well as price. No point in buying that puppy and it be less than the vendor advised.

I have had zero dealings with angara but numerous with WF and one with JA and they are highly recommended by me.

It must be so exciting to be ring hunting! I am sure the folks here will get back with plenty of options and opinions.

Bruins,

Whiteflash has this gorgeous .90 ct H, VS2 A Cut Above H&A (1.1 on the HCA) for $4941 cash wire price:

.90 ct, H, VS2 H&A

It''d look beeeeeautiful in the Legato with Micropave:

Legato Micropave 18K WG

$4941 + $995 = $5936

Thanks for the reply Steel! Maybe I was wrong, I''ll definitely look at JA and WF again.

I am very excited to be ring hunting and proposing to my girlfriend. Shopping around has been alot of fun already and I can''t wait till I finally find the perfect ring!

I''ll be watching this thread closely and look forward to getting everyone''s advice.

Thanks again!

Thanks EBree! I''ll definitely look into that diamond closer.

My next question is...how much of a difference is there between .90 and closer to 1.00?
