I have a wonderful young friend about to propose to his gal.

A local B&M quoted him $9,000 for a 1.5 ct princess cut H SI1, stone only.
I asked him which lab graded it and he thought it was AGS but I checked around but a quick check at a few sites tells me that sounds impossible.
Today he's going to find out which lab graded it.

Can you guys help find good candidates at that budget with cut as king?
I know little about princess cuts other than look for one that AGS graded 0 in cut.
Is it true GIA does not grade princess cut today?

Is a Whiteflash ACA, GOG Superior, or Cut by Infinity princess better than just AGS 0?
Talk to me.

Thank you, but he said her heart is set on a princess cut.

You could try to call ID jewelry or GOG to see if they could find you something

Kenny-I am not an expert but you are correct that GIA does not grade the cut of princess cuts. As far as AGS0 vs branded I suppose it is similar for rounds. AGS0 ensures some level of cut quality (of course with some variation) but the branded stones have been vetted by the vendor/have images/often have better policies.

unfortunately at the usual PS vendors I am not seeing too much over a carat (all under budget). Perhaps have him call some of the vendors or see if his local jeweler can source some AGS0s?

Bluenile has what they call Signature Ideal princess cuts, the ones I saw had GIA reports.

Does anyone have any feeling about those?

GOG has a video comparing their signature princess cuts to signature princess cuts of other vendors. I'd watch it.
