Hi everybody, I am having a hard time finding flower girl dresses that I like. They are a big deal because there are no bridesmaids. I''m 38 and all of my friends are like - please don''t make us go through this - can''t you just use my daughter???

So, I will be having four flower girls!

We are getting married in December. I want to use a deep scarlet red and a beigy-or-champagne gold. Everything I find is fire engine red or looks like the girl is in a beauty pageant. We are open to having a scarlet/burgundy dress with a gold sash or a gold dress with a deep red sash.

If anyone happens to come across something like this in their own search, please shoot me a link.

Thanks a lot! Happy weddings to you all

How old are you flowergirls?

They range from toddler to third grade. We are definitely considering getting the option of different dresses for the older girls and the younger girls.

Thanks Aprilcait! Yes, actually white is out of the question. My dress is ivory and we are getting married by candlelight, so we are doing an all subdued color wedding. I really appreciate your suggestion though. Cute dress!

Woopsie! I didn't see your reply about the white until after I posted the David's Bridal dress. Never mind!

I think if you wait until the fall, you will have better luck finding what you are looking for. You might be able to find some Christmas dresses off the rack even. It seems like they start putting that type of thing out in October anymore.

Morgie''s idea about Christmas dresses is fabulous. You''ll probably have a great selection with good prices then. Good one, Morgie!!!

Deelight - Actuallty the Little Flowers Tina is currently my top choice. My only issue with them is that no one nearby sells them, and it makes me nervous to order sizes over the internet.

Morgie44 - I didn''t reallize that. I just assumed that the fall/winter stuff would be out in the catalogues now because of the time it takes to order them. It''s so confusing because the shops are telling me to allow up to 12 weeks to get the dresses.

Aprilcait - Oh, I would love to see that in the darker color. I don''t live far from a David''s Bridal, maybe they would have it in stock.

Deelight - YES! There are about six stores in my area (Orlando, FL) that carry that line. Thanks - I am definitely going to go check those out. What''s really cool about the website is that it allows you to change the color of the dress.

Awesome :) happy to have helped :)

I hope it works out :D:D:D

I always liked those Jordan dresses too! This one was one of my faves:

I had ours made because I had 3 girls in sizes 4,5 and 8 and ivory or white were not an option since my dress was lt gold. Sizes are grouped in the department stores from 2-6x and then 7-14 and rarely seem to have the same dresses across both groups so you may have a hard time with the Christmas dress idea unless they wear different styles.
I had this dress made but in chianti:

p.s. I understand about the bridesmaids since I''m almost the same age! I had 4 kids begging to be in it and all the adults saying "no, please!" Couldn''t have a bouquet or garter toss either....who''d be out there to catch it? Are you able to do that?

Winston26, you are freaking me out!

I swear, I just showed my fiance about six dresses to get his opinions on, from six different manufacturers, and those two you attached were two of them!!!! His favorite was the Jessica Lynn one (Emerald Bridal) and we were getting very frustrated trying to figure out what colors we could get it in. I cannot find fabric swatches on the website anywhere. You say that you were able to get them in a dark red? What color sash did you use?

We are really like twins. I will NOT being doing anything with a garter or a bouquet toss. I have one single friend who doesn''t relish the idea of standing there by herself waiting for me to toss the bouquet.

That IS freaky! You have fabulous taste!!!! LOL Now I''m really curious what other things you are picking out!

I will try to post some pics then (not very good at it, so here goes....)

The "Jean" Jessica Lynn dress comes in many colors. It is made of taffeta. The bridal shop has to show you the color chart for taffeta by that company. I fell in LOVE with the sample dress and the exact color it was in. I was sure that was it so I took a swatch saying I needed it for the florist later that day. Good thing because I later found out they needed to rush the dress and it went from $130 to $160 with the rush plus they''d have alteration fees also probably....and they still weren''t 100% sure I''d get it in time! My 2 sisters-in-law had a birdie. So I luckily had taken a photo and the swatch and was able to have it made from scratch for $100....then had no alterations since each was made to their specs.
Here is the photo of the sample dress in the store....

Here is how they actually turned out. I think the seamstress found a slightly darker red than the swatch but I still liked it. The only thing that was weird was the bow in back. When the seamstress tied them at the fitting they were sooooo gorgeous, big and poofy. When the Mom''s tied them on the wedding day, they flopped down and didn''t look that great. I have no idea what the seamstress did differently when she tied them!

Fox & Lily have gorgeous ones.

I have 4 flowergirls - 4, 7, 8 and 12.

I based the dresses on the Angela one from F&L. The 4 year-olds is knee-length, 7 & 8 year-olds are mid-calf and the 12 year-old is floor-length. All in lavender - cotton voile over cotton lawn with a breathable lining fabric underneath. I dyed all the fabric in the washing-machine with Dylon and then my mother made all the dresses.

I wanted something that looked fresh and pretty and not too heavy or satinish. I'm a fabric snob and hate synthetics so cotton was an obvious choice for the summer.

I''m not sure what you budget it is, but i LOVED our flower girl dress and it comes in lots of colors and sizes. however, I did have to order online, but it wasnt'' so bad. They tell you exactly how to measure for size. But anyway, here''s the site.

And here''s a pic of our flower girl...so cute!!!

Winston 26: Well, I can tell you another thing that we have in common! Our wedding dresses are very similar as well. They both have a similar fit and have the same top, deep v-neck with straps. Maybe you should just send me ALL of your wedding details. It would save me a lot of time

Looking for invitations now, did you have any red in yours?

Akmiss: I LOVE the Disney collections, I even tried on one of their wedding dresses. The only problem is that I don''t think they have any selection in red

PandoraII: WoW! You made those? Incredible! I am so envious of people who know how to do stuff, I''m a strictly order-only kind of gal.

Cdt1101: I have to hand it to you and Pandora. I thought I had found every flower girl site on the web, but had somehow never come across Fox and Lily. They are gorgeous dresses. Which style is your flower girl?

Winston 26, I went to order the Jessica Lynn dress and the taffeta swatch looks pretty light - it''s almost kind of orangey-red. I can switch to a satin but she said that satin won''t hold the poof of the skirt. When you had your dresses made, do you remember what fabric you used?

Thanks,
Maggie

I absolutely

the chianti colored dresses. I wish we would have used this color for my daughter''s flower girl.

Thanks Miraclesrule. It''s nice to know that not everyone thinks I''m crazy. I get a lot of "no one wants to see a little girl in a dark red dress" or "she''s supposed to look the same as the bride!"
