Help evaluating AGS0 Diamond (2003 Report)

Hi!

I am looking to upgrade my wife's diamond to a 2 Carat diamond. I found an AGS 0, F, VS1 diamond that has the specs I'm looking for. Here is the link: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/F-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1484572.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131

Everything looks fabulous, EXCEPT

1. AGS Report is dated May 2003. Is there any way I can find out this diamond's history? I'm wondering if it has ever been sold, and if not, why it's still on the market?

2. This AGS Report (DQD) is based on the old AGS grading standards; is there any way for me to find out if it's still an AGS 0 diamond under the new standards?

3. AGS Report mentions that it's faceted 1.5 - 2.0%; I'm not sure what this means. Is this anything to be concerned about.

Ask your vendor about the likelihood of it being an AGS0 stone under the new guidelines. You could always ask for the stone to be sent back and recerted too.

Looks like a beautiful diamond!

It has probably been sold and traded before but there is no real way of knowing exactly where, when and where. The good news is that diamonds are not like buying used goods as long as they are in pristine condition. That is a fact about the stone that makes it no better or no worse - it just is.

Talk to JA about your concerns - let us know what they say!

If you are worried about it, you can have them resend to AGS to recheck the stone.
