Hi my ering is a Tiffany classic setting solitaire and my wedding band is a shared pront eternity. I''ve only been wearing both together for about 2 months and I''ve noticed small scratches on my ering setting (specifically, the base of the prongs) caused by the diamonds on the shared prong eternity. What can I do? The scartches are not serious but it''s only been 2 months! do I just have to deal w/ it? is it a really big deal anyway? thanks all!

They should line up and shoot all the salepeople and designers who let anyone buy a shared prong ring besdie another ring.

You can place a spacer between them, of the same metal.

Or have the stones reset properly

Kissmark, I had the same thing happen in just a period of days....my band of diamonds *ate* into the base of my solitaire prongs.

Not good....I ended up have the two rings soldered together. My benchman said there could continue to be some very very slight rubbing between the rings, however, upon inspection sometime later he noticed none.

I loved my rings soldered....it kept them straight and lined up ( and stops the rubbing problem!) I had two wedding sets at the time and had them both done this way ( yes, I''m a diamond crazy lady

PS....if you''re concerned about how two rings look at the bottom of the shanks when they are soldered together, express this concern to your jeweler. Some benchmen are more careful about the asthetics than others and most often you can have it done, should you decide to do so, and you''ll never know they are soldered.

Of course, should you decide you want them taken apart this can be done very quickly.....the benchman should use only a small amt of solder and it shouldn''t harm your rings.

Executing sales people who give bad advice would leave a serious staffing shortage at the world’s jewelers. Training them seems easier, not to mention more environmentally sensitive.

Shoot them and fill the empty spots with PS educated diamond fanatics.

unfortuately kissmark, it is true. as far as i know both tiffany and memoire eternity bands are designed to sit lower and with the right e-ring the diamonds do not touch the the head or cause damage. diamondseeker has a memoire she wears with here solitaire and has no problems. however, those are the only 2 i know of with low designs and even then if they may scratch an e-ring that sticks out differently. some gals just live with it, go for repolishing every now and then. others have opted to change their wedding sets or solder them together.

Thanks for all the responses. So as long as I can live w/ the scratches it shouldn''t really damage the setting otherwise right? And Gary I only have a cheap plain silver band right now, while my ering and wedding bands are platinum. Can I use the silver band as a spacer? or do I need to get a platinum for it? Thank you
