I am looking at a stone....

1.74 G SI1

Cut: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Depth: 61.2%
Table: 57%

GIA Certified

Cut Advisor = 1.6

What should this cost?

Stone is eye clean - one small clear inclusion...

What are the crown, pavilion angles, star and lower half number and girdle variation?

Hi Patsy

More info is needed please, in particular at this stage the angles you used for the HCA, diameter, girdle thickness, diameter, star and lower girdle facet percentages.

Regarding pricing, is the diamond for sale online or from a store jeweller? This can influence pricing considerably. What is the type of inclusion setting the grade, such as feather, cloud etc?

Crown Angle: 35.0°

Thanks Patsy, the numbers look promising - I will look up the report link, back shortly.

Here it is - http://www2.gia.edu/reportcheck/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.showReportVerification&reportno=17614217&weight=1.74

If it says on the report that the inclusion you describe is a cloud, then get an appraiser to check it out to make sure it isn't affecting performance, this is not always the case in SI1 but best to check.

Also- I am purchasing from a local jeweler....it is my expectation and his representation to me - that he can compete with and beat prices of online retailers such as Blue Nile

See what he can come up with!

I was just looking to get an idea of what price neighborhood the stone should be around....

You can do a search at the top where it says Diamond Prices, enter the size, colour and clarity then search all, this will bring up the prices of similar online diamonds with GIA reports. It appears the average price online, which is normally cheaper than store jewellers is around $13k.
