Hi. I haven''t posted in awhile, but I''m back for help! I was engaged a few months ago( Original E-ring link ), and received a gorgeous ring. My grandmother recently passed away, and my family gave her wedding ring to me. It is way too big, and the setting is not right, but i would love to incorporate some of the diamonds from her ring into my own wedding band. I am wondering if anyone has any good ideas of what I could do...
Right now, I''m just thinking about using the round diamonds to create a eternity band. How would this look next to my pave e-ring? Also, I believe the round diamonds are 3-4 points (?) while those in my ering are 1 pointers. Will that look bad?
Also, I may use the marquis diamonds from my grandmother''s band to create a new piece (yay--more jewelry!!)... I''m thinking maybe a pendant (in the style of the Elsa Peretti diamonds by the yard). Anyone have any other ideas or pictures?

I''ve attempted to make a collage of my ering + my grandmother''s band. If this doesn''t work, I''ll attach photos separately.
Thanks SO much for any input!!

I would keep it as a RHR and not touch it! sorry!

oh, i wish i could. unfortunately, it''s set in yellow gold (Can''t tell from the scan at the jewelers) which is not my favorite...and most importantly, it is WAY too big, and cannot be sized down. i wear a 3.5 and it''s about an 8!

What about using the rounds to make 2 curved bands (your ering basket won''t allow a ring to sit flush) - one on each side of your ering??

I''d probably take all the rounds and make a 2 row eternity band for a RHR. I think the stones might be too big next to your 1 point e-ring and like FG said, it wouldn''t sit flush. Here''s a picture of a Ritani double row band...

That's a good idea. And BTW, I missed your original thread, but your e-ring is sooo gorgeous! I love it!!

ETA: Just saw MrsSalvo's post, and I like her idea too. In fact, for myself, I'm not wild about curved bands, so if it were me I'd probably do the RHR with your grandmother's (such as mrssalvo suggested), and have a separate wedding ring made to match your e-ring with the same size diamonds.

wow! does it fit on your big toe? hehehe ;) you could almost size it up to fit TWO fingers! What about some sort of pendant?

Also - I went back and looked at your original ring thread and I just love your stone! I just bought an OMB (old mine brilliant) but mine is longer than yours... I''m not sure if I''m keeping it but dayamn it''s gorgeous in many ways... I''m curious what the length and width are on yours...

I think with your ring I''d either go for a matching pave band or a thicker plain metal band. I wonder if you could make two bands to flank it with your diamonds... maybe lay the marquise end to end or something? Maybe one band that has the marquise around in a circle with the rounds scattered in to fill where the smaller marquise in - have it be a little random or something... and just have one thicker band that is covered in the diamonds... I don''t know that I''d use the smaller diamonds for a thicker eternity band though... with those delicate pave bands IMO you either have to match really close, go for plain metal or just change it up entirely.

I like that, but how about using the marquise to form a \ * / around it... hmm.... I love the old designs that got really creative/geometric with the pears and marquise

Okay looking at them again, the marquise would probably have to be more like this, but angled to be attractive rather than computer bound lol:

wow,you guys are GOOD! i love these ideas... that would be so unique to do the \_/!!
i WOULD make a right hand ring, but i think it would mean so much to my family (and to me!) to use my grandmother's diamonds in my own wedding band... i also love this idea (see below), but it probably wouldn't work b/c of the different sizes of the marquis...

if i DON'T use the marquis stones in a ring, what would you guys do with them??

thanks!!!

ETA: oops, those aren't actually marquis in between the round!! wonder if it could be done with marquise???

do you have the ring in your possession? Do you think that you could put in on your finger next to your ering? then you (and we) could se how big these stones are compared to yours in your ering.

just a thought.

Also, I love the idea of making a band with 2 rows of rounds. I would probably make them 2 rings, so that i could wear 1 or 2, depending on my mood, and the swelling in my fatty fingers...lol

side note: as per your name suggests, is your fiance in Athens?? I am greek and we are thinking of going to Greece in Nov to visit my relatives and hopefully see the sites!

i WISH i had the ring in my possession! in fact, i have neither my ering OR my grandmother's ring right now! my fiance sent the jeweler who made the ering my grandmother's ring back when he had the ering designed. and now i had to send in my ering b/c one of the original pave stones was messed up. i feel so naked without it!!

ETA: no, my fiance is in the states. i have never even been to greece! we were just being silly when we made up a name (i think my fiance originally wanted me to say "lover in minnesota" or something like that but it was too long! but i am SO jealous that you guys are going there. what a great trip!!!

actually a marquise eternity ring would be really lovely as long as you put the same stagger... it''d totally be okay as long as they were put in order... if you use the rounds between, as long as you keep the same slope or whatever, you could stick them here or there... I don''t know how wide you''d want it, but you could get really creative.

do you have your cert? cause I''m dying to know what the measurements are on your stone LOL It looks a lot like mine but more square and bigger culet and yours is prettier LOL though I kinda like the long nature of mine too... I think I''ve decided I need to get a job with diamonds so I don''t need to own just one LOL

cehra,
my fiance has the cert put away somewhere. and silly me, i never wrote down the dimensions. here''s what i had from my old post:

GIA report
shape: old mine brilliant
2.50c (oops, thought it was only 2.44; guess i like this better!)
depth: 67.5%
table: 60%
Girdle: thick to very thick, faceted
culet: slightly large
polish: good
symmetry: good
clarity: VS1
color: F
fluorescence: none

i was always drawn to the more square cushions as opposed to the rectangles...and when i first saw the ring, i actually thought that maybe it was TOO rectangular. i LOVE it now, of course, and i couldn''t imagine any other stone! do you have any pictures of your stone?? i bet it''s gorgeous too!! :)

trust me, I''d seen your old posts :D ;) Mine isn''t much bigger than yours but yours is more square and I was just curious... I think your stone has beautiful proportions. Mine looks more like an oval but at 1.26:1 its a pretty squat oval LOL Still, I bet yours is like 1.15:1 or something, just gorgeous!! If you ever find out please let me know! Is yours a FIREcracker? wooo!
