Hey all,

I''ve been lurking (can''t help but feel slightly creepy using that term) on this website for a few weeks now and I can''t begin to thank you for all of the insight that you unknowingly shared with me. After reading countless opinions on the 4Cs, I''m trying to decide between a few stones from GOG and I would appreciate your thoughts.

The stones are:

1.22ct G SI2 Round H&A
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4679/
(Sarah from GOG said that she can faintly see the large inclusion from 5 inches)

1.22ct H SI1 Round H&A
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4883/
(eye clean at 5 inches)

1.13ct E SI1 Round H&A
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4490/

and

1.28ct E SI2 Round H&A
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4760/
(Sarah from GOG said that she can see the inclusion from 5 inches when she first looks at it in the loupe)

For a little more information, the stone will be set in the Mark Morrell Flame (unless someone has any significant problems with this setting that I haven''t heard about) and the wedding band will likely be a half-eternity shared-prong setting (not sure if this is how you''re supposed to describe it, but it should give you the general idea).

My concerns are:

Color - Will the H (or even G) color be more noticeable with the platinum band and diamonds in the wedding band?
Clarity - Anything not totally eye-clean scares me a bit.
Size - How significant of a difference will it be to go from 1.22(8) to 1.13 on a size 6.5 finger?
Any other stones I should check out in the $7000 - $8500 price range?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you.

PS - Thus far, GOG has been great to work with - unbelievably informative and patient in answering my constant questions.

Hi nd,

Question first. On the last one, are you sure you meant looking through a loupe? or just looking at it with her eyes?

G or H is fine for many people and is fine in plat.
I think 5" is way to close to judge them.
That said your worried about it and it sounds like the 1.22ct H SI1 Round H&A is eyeclean even at 5 inches so that would be my pick.

Sorry, I could have been more clear. Here''s my question and her response:

"I''m considering going to an SI2, assuming again that it''s eye clean - meaning that you can''t see anything on it from about 5 inches away. Please let me know what you think about the following stones:

Round 1.28ct E SI2 $7,783;

[Sarah] it is almost eye clean at 5 inches. If you look under a loop and then you really look with no loop you can find it.

Round 1.23ct H SI1 $8,412

Round 1.22ct H SI1 $8,344

[Sarah] These look almost exact except for the 1.22 is more eye clean, there fore I would go with that one over the 1.23."

Ok, now I''m confused. What happened to the 1.22 G SI2? Did you mean for that to be listed above the 1.22 H?

No, sorry. After Sarah''s comment, I removed the 1.23 H SI1 from consideration because it was roughly the same price as the 1.22 H SI1 stone.

Her comment with respect to the 1.22 G SI2 stone was provided in a separate e-mail.

Ok. Then I would go with her recommendation. That''s a lovely stone!

Should I be concerned about the indented natural shown on the GIA report of the 1.22 H SI1 stone? (This may not be something that you can tell from just observing the report).

It shouldn''t be a problem, GOG can provide further advice on that particular diamond.
