Help Deciding between Two Oval Cut Options

Hi everyone, I was referred to this site from a colleague of mine when he was conflicted about selecting between a few different natural diamond options. I'm currently having the same problem and would love your input, based on the properties of the stones and how they look. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! I'm trying to make a decision soon so that I can have the ring built for my (hopefully) soon to be fiance in late June. For what it's worth, my girlfriend has a very slight preference to longer oval cuts. However, I've noticed that this results in a more noticeable "bowtie" effect, so I'm trying to see if there's a balance.

Both options are 2.50 ct oval cuts, GIA certified, J color, SI2 clarity, Excellent polish and Very Good Symmetry. Both are eye-clean and have no flourescence.

The first option has the following properties:
- 61.6% depth proportion
- 59% table proportion
- 10.89mm length / 7.58mm width = 1.44 L/W ratio
- Note: This one is slightly shorter than the other, but the cut seems great and less of a bowtie is apparent. Although, I'm wondering if the vendor's lighting in the office I'm viewing the diamond in is skewing that perception, and that a bowtie would develop under any other lighting. The vendor would not allow me to bring the stone out of the store to see it in natural light. Pictures are attached, with the pictures being a little more dimly lit with the backdrop being a white piece of paper.

The second option has the following properties:
- 59.4% depth proportion
- 60% table proportion
- 11.38 length / 7.59mm width = 1.50 L/W ratio
- Note: This one is longer, but has a very noticeable bowtie. I'm wondering if this is any more excessive than what you'd typically get out of an oval cut at this L/W ratio? Doesn't seem to be cut as nicely as the first option, but I'm again wondering if the first option is skewed by the lighting in their office. Pictures are attached, with the window and some wet pavement being the backdrop. Tried to upload both of these as videos but the site wouldn't accept the file type.

Thank you for taking a look!!

Can you post pics of their GIA reports?

Thank you! And thanks for finding the Loupe video! I thought I wouldve had a clue at this point, but never looked into the 4 vs. 8 mains before! Definitely helps simplify it. And plugging in the GIA reports of each in that Loupe video url, definitely seems like Option 1 is in better shape than Option 2 and looks like it has much more shine and much less bowtie. Thank you for the help! I’m definitely curious if anyone else has any other opinions!

Yes...as I expected, option 1 is a 4 main. 4 mains in general* tend to have better light return (although each stone
has to be evaluated on its own merits.)

The center will still darken in bright lighting, just like a well-cut round brilliants will darken in bright light. These center facets will show
up as red or green in an ASET.

This 4 main would be my choice over the other stone.

* Subject to opinion...mine! :lol:
