Hello,

I was wondering if you experts could give your opinions on these stones from Blue Nile. I put the values from the GIA reports in the HCA (provided I did it correctly) here are links with the HCA scores:

HCA 2.3: 0.91ct, H, VS2 http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-or-less-very-good-cut-h-color-vs2-clarity_LD01287826?__fun_frm=i&filter_id=0

HCA 0.8: 0.91ct, H, VS2 http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-or-less-very-good-cut-h-color-vs2-clarity_LD01457110?__fun_frm=i&filter_id=0

HCA 1.3: 0.90ct, H, VS2 http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-or-less-very-good-cut-h-color-vs2-clarity_LD01349731?__fun_frm=i&filter_id=0

There was also a 0.9ct, G, VS2, but it scored over 5 so I discarded it. I was surprised to find these stones in my price range with my desired specs, since I haven''t found any from Whiteflash or Brian Gavin - kind of made me wonder about the quality since it seemed Blue Nile''s prices were lower..?

Thanks in advance for your advice/opinions! I have never dealt with an online vendor, but everyone has advised me that this is the most cost-effective option.

I only looked at this stone because for an engagement ring (guessing?) it has the best HCA score

I would have an appraiser look at it since BN will not give you ideal-scope or other assistance.
It will be way off the WF ACA quality because the girdle is thin to thick - but could still be nice

Yap, seems like the HCA 1.3 is the best bet.

I will just fix the links to make it easier for others to help you -

2 or 3 could be good, 3 falls within fiery ideal cut range ( FIC) which means it could show extra fire or coloured light if the lighting is right.

Hmm..maybe I do not understand the HCA..I thought closest to zero was the best score? Wouldn''t that make the 0.8 the best?

Thanks, Lorelei! I will have to do the links correctly last time, I just assumed it would "link" them when I put in the address.

How would you verify which would be the best stone for an e-ring?

Thanks, Garry H. What information should I be looking for from the appraiser? (I''ve never had anything appraised before..)

I am just naming the stone. Below 2 is good and worth a further look at. Not the best being a score of 0.

The aim with the HCA is to score below 2, a lower score isn't better than a higher one - all scores below 2 are considered a 'pass' pending further evaluation.

Also this page gives more info on the appraisal process and what to ask
