Help Chosing between two Emerald Diamonds

Can you guys help me decide which emerald diamond is a better value and is polish and symmetry (VG vs. G) a big factor in the look of the emerald diamonds?

better make sure that second one is eye clean. ECs need good clarity. We really need pics in order to help you.

Haven''t seen them yet, because I was looking to buy the diamond online. Those were the specs I got from the site. I asked them about the SI1 and they told me it is eye clean, but that a trained eye will be able to see the inclusion

Is it a known, trustworthy vendor?

Do they have GIA lab reports?

I personally wouldn''t even begin to consider purchasing a big EC online without a GIA cert, and clear photographs.

I''d have the vendor send pictures before I''d pursue this any further.

Does the vendor have a good return policy? If so, then you can judge the SI1 for yourself. As was said here, emeralds need to be clearer than rounds since the face up value of the stone is so spartan and pristine. Any defects jump out.

Be frank with the vendor. If you have good vision, or your FI has good vision, and you don''t want to see anything, then by all means tell the vendor that you are picky and detail oriented and want it *really* eye clean.

I have a great SI1 round and I love it, but I really don''t want to see anything and I was a pain and a nudge for my on line purchase. For an Emerald cut, you really have to be a picky buyer on clarity.

I would just stay away from the SI1 but I also have eagle eyes. One inclusion can be mirriored and you could see three (we saw an EC like that, icky!) Also look at L/W ratios. Some like shorter/fatter, some like longer/thinner.

Thank you all, I am using Blue Nile and they are GIA certified. I appreciate all of your help. I am leaning awaying from SI1 because I am also concerned the ease of seeing inclusion in emerald cuts.

You can use this chart to check the proportions of your EC, numbers don''t tell the whole story but they do help.

Finding a clean SI1 in an EC would be very rare,personally I wouldn''t drop below a VS clarity. See if you can get pics of the contenders and also don''t forget the importance of a reliably graded cert.

I woulnd''t buy an SI1 emerald sight unseen. Unfortunately most of them are not eye clean.
Anyways, in order to make a wise decision additional information such as magnified pictures, sarin reports, idealscope images are needed.
