Hello, and welcome! :)

I notice this is your first post on PS - but sometimes people lurk on the forums for a while before posting. If you''ve been a lurker for a while you will probably have picked up that most of the people on PS will prioritise the cut of the diamond above everything else (colour, clarity etc).

That is because the cut of the stone can affect its beauty - in terms of brilliance, fire & scintillation, more than any other factor.

I can''t really help you choose between the two diamonds you listed, because of the lack of information about the cut grade of the first stone. I am most interested in which stone is cut the best, but I can''t tell.

If you would like me to me honest with you, I would say that you can probably get a much better diamond for your money.

You are looking at stones there with H colour & SI2 clarity... and I would recommend you look for something which is a GIA Excellent cut, or AGS0 Ideal cut diamond.

Have you tried searching with the PS search facility above for an AGS0 or H&A diamond?

Online vendors such as Whiteflash, Good old Gold & James Allen are good places to start.

As a starter you might like to consider this diamond which is 1.41cts, H, SI2 and is an AGS0 Ideal cut, H&A diamond for $7815 (bank wire price).

Hi j,

The first stone doesn''t look bad, except for the Symmetry grade. It is best to stick with Very Good and up.

Also with the second stone, both Symmetry and Polish are just Good.

Since you say you have seen both of these, I take it you are shopping locally? If so, ask to see AGS0 (zero for light performance) graded stones. These stone will ensure you get something decent, and take a lot of the guesswork out.
