Hi All,

I visited a jewerly store over the weekend in Montreal (Canada) and he put 3 diamonds on hold for me so I can come look at them. This one is the more interesting one by the numbers I think.

GIA certified: 5111099269
Report Date: Sept 3, 2009 (should I be worried of the date??)
Carat: 1.16
Price (tax inxluded): $5500
Measurements: 6.83 x 6.86 x 4.09
Color: I color
Clarity: SI
Cut grade: Excellent
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Thin to Medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Faint (I should not be worry, right?)

HCA: 0,9

The other 2 diamonds that he put a hold on them are:
- GIA 2145166262, 1.05 carat for $5900 (HCA of 5.4)
&
- GIA 2145198559, 1.45 carat for $7200 (poor cut grade and medium blue fluorescence but he told me the price is great)

I would like to know if I should be considering the purchase of one of these diamonds.

Thanks for your help

Mark

Any thoughts on these 3 diamonds (more specifically the first one)?

Thank you

Skip the 1.05 and the 1.45 - what's the point of diamonds that don't sparkle as much as possible?

No red flags on the report for the 1.16. Are you working with a local vendor - have you seen the stone in-person? If so what did you think? If not, can you get more info/some pics?

The only reason to worry about an older report is if the stone has been used (set and worn) in the intervening time. If that's the case there may be some wear on the stone that the report obviously does not consider or factor into polish, etc. An independent appraisal is an easy way to verify that this is not the case, if that's a concern.
