Hello, this is my first post in the forum.
My wife wants a diamond pendent for the first year anniversary, a new baby, a new job and etc. I have not paid attention whatever she is saying about the diamond. After one big argument few days ago, I decided to buy one for her.

I need some help choosing one out of three diamonds. My budget is $3K max.
Thank you so much for your efforts and time in advance. I want to buy it from the BN since I have a 10% off coupon.

Around here, cut is king. You do not have enough cut info for me to try to give you an opinion. See if they can get the crown and pavillion angles for you on these stones. That''s the only way we can really help you decide.

Hi, if you go to the recommended diamonds section of Blue Nile, then go to "A Good Balance". That narrows down the selection a bit and gives you nice quality without overdoing. You may need to to go down a little in size to maybe around .70-.75 to get a little better quality.

I think a diamond pendant will make a wonderful first anniversary gift!

Given tops symmetry and proportions, those should be nice , IMO ... Between two SI2 it would win the one that looks clean (if any).

Re. symmetry: yes, I know this is not the same as H&A (optical symmetry), but there is some relation, and GIA 'Excellent' or AGS's 'Ideal' finish go some of the way toward the commended 'pattern' of the most precisely cut diamonds.

As far as I know, Blue Nile does not provide pictures and I ignore if they can (or will) tell if the inclusions in such diamonds are visible. All there is to guess on is the clarity plot (not great, but...). And there is always that return policy.

My 2c

I wonder if the 10% discount makes allot of difference, since BN's prices are atd higher to begin with.

E.g. E-SI2 sounds better than H-Si2 for 3k, and there is allot more detail known (re. cut and clarity) about that stone too.

might want to wait until the argument blows over, then have her sit at the 'puter with you, or go to the store, to pick out the stone. i certainly would want to pick out my own stone.

us wimmen at a certain age stop "asking", stop expecting, stop apologizing, stop fighting, and and start getting their own.

edited to add: right if you bought it now, it would have "fight cooties". she would associate this with the fight.
