Hello,

First time poster here. I was hoping I can get some help deciding which diamond I should go with. I have narrowed it down to 2 and have both on hold right now. Which one do you think would be the better choice?

Option 1:

Option 2:

Also, the setting i chose would be:

Thank you
Bryan

Well, I'm liking the second option better based on the image, the numbers and it's a VS2, but you really need to request IS images. Have you done that yet?

edit: If size is an issue and you think you'd prefer the larger stone, than I would request a sarin of the stone as well. GIA rounds the proportions and you can't know if they rounded up or down, in this case if they rounded up, then the numbers may not be as bad as they look on the report. You still need IS though.

Of all the settings on JA site, I prefer the prongs on the solitaire that you selected better than any other...and it's handmade! Nice choice.

Thanks Christina. I am also leaning towards option 2. Size is not really a big issue and I feel that option 2 would just sparkle more than option 1. As I am on a tight schedule I did not ask for an IS, just sort of putting my faith into JA. I am pretty optimistic and have a feeling either would be great.

They can typically get the image to you within a couple days. I know they always say longer and I don't know how tight your schedule is, but I would have the gemologist review the stone for you at the very least. When you receive it, be sure to evaluate it in many many different lighting environments. Make sure that it's bright from edge to edge and that it doesn't have any leakage. JA has a great return period, but make sure that you get it independently appraised asap, you will want to do this for insurance purposes anyway. You could also purchase an IS for yourself and view it during the return period. But mostly I think you will know if you love it or not when you have the opportunity to see if with your own eyes. =) Congratulations!

Bryan - fortunately, diamond 2's numbers are all nice, and the live image looks wayyyyyyyyyyyy better vs. #1. Also, it scores a 1.4 on the HCA, so I'd say you have a good shot at the stone being a great looking/performing one. The IS image will definitely confirm that, but I see how you don't want to wait a couple of days. In my opinion I think waiting a day or so is worth it, plus you don't have to deal with the hassle of sendingit back if you don't like it.

I mean, you say you're on tight schedule, but do you want to propose to her with a stone that may not look all that great (long shot, but who knows?)... what if it wasn't that great and you don't like it initially, then you have to send it back... will probably end up being the same amount of time as waiting for the IS in the first place. Good luck, man!
