Help, Can't Decide on Vatche U113 vs JA 6 prong knife edge

Hi All,

Thanks for this communities help in picking my diamond... I went with the 1.39 round g color vs1 from JA. Now I can't decide to go with JA's platinum 6 prong knife edge setting or spend the extra 600 and go with the Vatche u113. I found someone that will do the Vatche for 1650. Is it worth the extra hassle and money to get the loose stone from JA and give it to my jeweler to get the vatche.

I think it is worth getting the Vatche, but that is not how I'd do it. I'd go through a NYC vendor so JA can send the stone to them to get the setting. James Allen was trying to become an authorized dealer...did you ask them if they could get the Vatche setting for you? I got mine from Good Old Gold and a couple of others got theirs from ID Jewelry. They both probably hand deliver to Vatche. I know my diamond was hand delivered to Vatche and picked back up.

I can't comment as to what you should buy, but if you do decide to do go with Vatche we can hand deliver the diamond on behalf of your vendor, assuming they are comfortable with that arrangement.

It was actually the other way around

We've decided not to carry Vatche at this time, but will always try to accommodate our clients (as above).

Sorry Jim, I guess I should have said you were considering offering Vatche settings. I had the impression that was something being worked on.

ucbriun....But that is great that JA can still deliver the diamond to Vatche on behalf of the vendor you choose to buy the setting from (if you decide on the Vatche). I'd just get quotes in that case from GOG and IDJ and then once the ring has been completed, that vendor can pick the ring up and inspect it before sending it to you.

Let me say that I have only seen the Vatche in person and there have been several others posted here. I just can't comment on the quality and differences between the Vatche and JA models since I haven't seen the JA one (or seen reviews of it here).

Honestly speaking though, the Vatche thing was sort of a clusterfudge. Thanks for understanding.

I am in the same boat... Trying to decide which Tiffany replica to purchase. I like the Vatche and BGD versions best, but I recently found Adiamor's for $500. I was told by Adiamor that it's not a mass produced piece, but hand crafted like the Vatche and BGD. Does anyone have any experience with this setting?

that's a great price for the white gold... but not such a good price for the platinum. Wonder why the price difference is so much.
