First of all, this website and forum are a fantastic resource! I''m hoping a few kind souls here can further help me out.
I live in Vancouver and on Monday, July 13, I will be crossing the border to buy a ring and pop the question the following weekend.
Though I''m confident in her reply (it will still be a surprise for her), I''m leary on where to spend my time looking as I will only have ONE day in which to find a finished ring or match a diamond to a setting within my budget. I''ve used the search engine and taken a look through the local jeweler listings on this site but I''m hoping to compile a short list of jewelers between the border and Seattle based on other people''s experiences and the following.
1) My absolute upper limit is USD$3,000 before sales tax and duties. This is for the finished ring.
2) I want a round diamond (and so does she!) and minimum 0.75 carat, I colour, SI2 clarity and very good cut.
3) I''m content with a white gold ring and it can be a solitaire setting, i.e. I''d rather put the money into the diamond than the ring
At the low end I''ve looked at the Jewelry Exchange in Renton and something like this would be "nice" in my book.

If anyone can please recommend jewelers with a decent selection of diamonds, rings and finished rings in my price range, I would be really grateful!
p.s. the reason I''m not bothering to look in the Vancouver area is I bought enough USD$ when it was at parity with our CAD$... and there appears to be so much more value for one''s $ in the US.
