Ok so my future fiance and I went ring shopping and I loved the Maevona Westray with diamonds in the band. It was at my jeweler but I haven't seen it online at all and trust me I've been looking. Anyway I left the diamond up to him. I assumed it would be about 1 carat or maybe a little less. It turns out he has a family heirloom that is a 2 carat flawless RB! I am freaking out about what it's going to look like! What if it's too big? I wear a 4.5 ring but my fingers are very long and I'm not all that small myself. Any ideas on what it's going to look like? I'll post pics ASAP!

HI:

Is there a question here? What do you require "help" with?

cheers--Sharon

I'm wondering what it may look like. Even at the jewelry store I didn't see any sample rings with a 2 carat diamond.

There's really no telling because we have no idea of the cut. I really hate to think about him setting the diamond without having the cut examined, because the stone could possibly be recut to be a more beautiful stone. The depth and other factors enter in to the face up size. But it sounds like a potentially good problem to have as long as you think the setting is good for a larger stone!

This might help you a little. FWIW I have a 2ct RB on a size 6 finger and I don't think it is overwhelming at all.

EDIT: Sorry uploaded wrong file!

I have a size 4 1/4(smaller on cold days) finger and wear a 2 ct, it's definitely not too large. I get a lot of compliments but I've never had anyone say it's too big. I even wear it with a 2 ct diamond eternity band so a total of 4 cts on my finger. It's a wonderful size, enjoy it.

Here's for reference.

lovely ring, makemepretty! I was just about to ask if you could post your set! :)

I wear a 4 to 4.5 and my e-ring has a 1.25 center stone, flanked by 2 1/4 ct. diamonds and I think I could go bigger, no problem. When I was younger, it looked strange, but as I get older, the bigger stones look just fine. Which is good, because I swear diamonds shrink over time. 8)

I'll trade you! lol

Seriously, it won't be too big. 2ct is a good size.

If anyone ever says it's too big, check their skin tone for subtle shades of GREEN.

Close. The REAL truth is that diamonds shrink as your number of posts on PS go up. You're only at 84... poor diamond...

Don't neglect to get it re-appraised and insured at current market values.

I think it will look lovely.

You've come to the wrong place to have someone tell you that a stone is too big. I think a 4 ct is starting to get too big. I have a half carat, but am satisfied :saint:...until I get my new anniversary ring ;)

wow makemepretty! your set is gorgeous!!!! I'm so jelly!

I think 2 ct will not look too big on you, based on the description of the rest of you.
My centerstone is 1.81 ct, and because I'm pretty tall, with long fingers, it doesn't looks "big" to me at all. It looks like a good everday size.
