Hi All
I am looking for advice.

I have been married for 10 years and I''ve wanted an upgrade for a while.
My original set is a
1/2 CTW with a 1/5 marquise in the center and 2 channel set bands (one on top and one on bottom)

I''ve had my heart set on upgrading the center stone. But my husband said if I wanted a totally new ring, that''s fine. The rings were bought from Helzberg 11 years ago, so we can trade them in and get full credit.

Now, I''m thinking about trading in the e-ring for a 1ct solitaire (either round or princess) and keeping the bands (for right now)

AM I CRAZY? The choice is either upgrade the center the stone or trade in the e-ring for a solitaire

I''ve posted some not so great pics so you can see what I''m working with.

I like the classic look of a solitaire, so i would vote you get a solitaire either princess or RB which ever shape strikes your fancy. However do you think you would want to get a whole new diamond ring from somewhere other than Helzberg? don't they make you spend twice as much or something? I'm not sure what the trade in policy is. Otherwise i would say, keep your ring and reset those diamonds and recycle them into something else, and spend the *money* that you would have anyways to buy a really nice well cut diamond with specs from somewhere else - maybe online (from a reputable PS vendors - with Fantastic upgrade policy), not just for the sake of trading in and you'll likely spend just as much but not have your other ring set. hope that made sense.

Thanks D&T
That makes plenty sense

In the full pic of your current setting you can see the bands you have a little bit better, with the gold bars separating each of me melee stones... I really like those bands with your current setting so if you want to keep those bands I would stick with the setting you have. I''m having a hard time picturing those bands with a solitaire. Is it my eyes or are the solitaires you tried out white metal? Were you thinking of going to white metal or staying with yg?

You have some great eyes. I''m sticking with the yellow, but they didn''t have the princess in the store with a yellow gold band.

Thanks for the advice. Food for thought

looking again - I think maybe if you choose a solitaire setting that is flatter you''ll be fine - the rounded band in between is throwing me off. If you choose a solitaire that mimics the height and shape of your diamond bands I think it will look good. You could pick just about any width for the solitaire as the two bands will balance it.

OOohhhhhhhh!!! I never thought about that! YES!!!

Okay, there is The ring I have now

are you cropping your photo? The print on the book under your hand is clear! lol Maybe back the camera away from your hand a bit more - a smaller clear picture may be more helpful :)

I like your idea about keeping your current wedding bands and just getting a new middle ring setting and diamond.
It would be nice if you could get a more squared off band like your two wedding bands for consistency stake. I see if
I can find some new solitare type bands for you to consider. Have you considered shopping on-line. You might be
able to keep your old set for the money it will cost you to buy a new one from helzberg. ( No, we do not work for
the vendors). I''m just saying it might be an option to consider. We would have to know how much money you
would have to spend at Helzberg to get the upgrade to 1 carat. We can also make sure that you get a well
cut stone.

This one looks like it might be a little more squared off than rounded.

You might be able to go with something like this

Wow ... your original ring has a big, blingy look for its carat size -- I hope you don''t have Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome with a new giant 1ct solitaire because it will be less "finger filling" than what you have now?

I think the 1cts look great on your hand though & its a very, very classic, elegant look! I almost might like it better with just ONE of your wedding bands worn with it.

For what its worth - a one carat Marquise solitaire will have a much "larger" look than a round or princess 1ct. Have you considered that? Or an Oval?
