I need help to make this decision.

I have two stones that I''m interested in. Not really worried about the price but I can''t make out which one is better???

Diamond A = 0.81 carat; Depth 59.9%; table size 58.7%; crown angle 34.1; pavil angle 40.5; culet 0.4; Girdle thickness 1.5% medium; clarity VS1; Color I; fluoroscence none

Diamond B = 0.80 carat; Depth 62.4%; table size 57.7; crown angle 35.1; pavil angle 40.8; culet 0.5; girdle thickness 2.6% SI. Thick; clearity VVS2; color G; fluoroscence none

I''m thinking the cut are about the same and the only thing really separating the difference is the clarity and color between the 0.81 and 0.80 carat diamonds. I''m leaning more towards the 0.81 carat since the "cut adviser" said it was excellent across the board compared to the 0.80 which was only very good but I''m affraid that people will see a difference in color when comparing the I color on the 0.81 vs. the G color on the 0.80 diamond.

Should I just not worry about the color and go with the 0.81 or am I missing the picture all together. Your imputs would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Well, with its depth and girdle, the G stone probably has a much smaller diameter than the I. In other words, it will look smaller, even though it weighs slightly more.

Also, with the G you are paying more for unseen clarity with that VVS2.

I would go with the I as long the cut pans out and you are not bothered by the difference in two color grades. However, perhaps you could find a G VS stone with a better cut if you do decide that I isn't for you . . .

The average person will not be able to tell the difference in two grades' difference in color, especially when the stone is set. I would go with the I unless you can tell the difference and are bothered.

I agree, there is an alternative, maybe look for a stone that is GVS1-HVVS2 in the same size.A stone that will have the same/close measurments as the I color,The 35.1% Crown angle on the GVVS stone, tells us that the stone is built on the thick side ,therefore lacking a bit in diameter.

OK for the diamond with the I color. How much should I be paying for it? Is $2300 too high or just right??? Can I bid lower?

Thanks for the help

Looks fine to me

You can surely bid lower, but the 'replacement' cost of the pice among the stones posted here would be a tad more even with no premium on the cut.
