Hi everyone! I did a search on my screen name to try to find one of my old threads for someone and saw that someone had posted a thread looking for me back in march LOL I thought I should stop in and say a quich hello....

If anyone remembers me asking about living in china a while back? Well... we''re going to do it! In fact I leave monday for a 1 week trip there. We''re moving actually to ireland in november for 7 months and then we''ll be off to china for 2 years. I am actually a little concerned about taking my ring or whether or not it is appropriate. We will be livig in Dalian way up north between beijing and korea. I''m working on the international insurance right now so suddenly the ring is back top of my thoughts again (though who am I kidding - I still stare at it at *every* stoplight lol).

Anyway, that''s about it... very busy the next month so not sure when I''ll drop by again but I will eventually when things calm down. Lots of hugs out to you girls that held my hand for a year and a half ::mwah:: :)

How fun! I would be happy to babysit it for you while you''re gone if you want...

Glad to see you back!!!

Good to hear from you again!

Whereabouts in Ireland will you be living?

It''s so nice to see you again, Cehra! What an exciting move!!!!

Hi Cehra

Glad to see that you stopped by...thanks for the update and good luck with your move(s)!

OMG I forgot how addictive this place is - yikes! I sat down and started looking in the SMTR board and an hour went by and there is some really cool new stuff you guys are doing - awesome! I got a new camera yesterday for our trip on monday (you all remember I hated my camera - all it did was macro lol) and of course had to take pics of my ring. I admit I''ve been infatuated with my ring a bit extra the last month or so... I thought I was over my addiction LOL It''s so nice that anyone still remembers me after a year LOL

And Bee, we''ll be in Leixlip near Dublin :) There''s a chance we''ll be living in Dublin proper but I think I want to live further out (not that I''d know any better LOL) Do you know anything about the public school system there? If I recall you live in Ireland as well, correct? We''re staying there through the end of June when the school year ends... but that is the only thing I know about it! We''ll be there by nov 24th or whenever dh''s work visa goes through, whichever comes last.

I just found this old thread https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/living-in-china.63692/ and reread the whole thing and it was cool how useful it was a year and a half later! We actually decided after that thread to NOT go and then earlier this year changed our minds. I can''t believe we''re actually *doing* it - I''m excited! Reading that thread again was fun :) Of course now we''re going to china AND ireland hehe :D

Shall I start teaching you Mandarin?
P.S. Any diamond faces coming? Pwease?

Hey Cehra, just wanted to say hello and I wish you the best! Good to see you back here again.

haha no diamond faces, I don''t even have adobe on my new laptop yet LOL Anyway yes, I need to learn Mandarin. Apparently we''re getting 120 hours of instruction and access to Rosetta Stone. I''ve heard of Rosetta but I''m not familiar with it.... I heard it is good but I expect the classroom instruction will be more useful.

I was referring to words that I guarantee won''t be in Rosetta''s lexicon.

Lol! Harriet you are obsessed with foreign swear words!!!!

Hey Cehra! Good to see you around these parts! And wow-I''m jealous of your impending move(s)!

Hi Cehra, yep I live in Dublin myself. Unfortunately I don''t know too much about Leixlip. I live over on the South side of Dublin so Leixlip is out the other way. The only thing that I''d be wary about with living out that far, is that if your Dh is working in Dublin city center he''ll have a hell of a commute into work every day. Traffic into town (city center) is crazy (It can take up to an hour and a half each way). Just something to consider if he is working there. I''m not too sure about schools but generally there are good schools in every town so I wouldn''t be awfully worried about that. If you have any other questions, I''ll try and answer them as best as I can. I''d be more up on Dublin though than the surrounding counties.

LOL you''ve always been such a wonderful support - thank you so much Isabel :) I was just wondering, looking back - do you feel any particular stone was "the one that got away"? I do remember that it turned out for the best for your husband and yourself, but just wondering if it was the pink or the asscher or something else that you still think about or something else entirely.

Harriet - you know, I just remembered that the chinese girl who sat next to me in spanish in high school taught me some naughty words - of course I know that there are subtle differences in pronunciation. While we were in china, one of the girls on tour with us kept mispronouncing thank you as poop LOL So I don''t know if these words are accurate but even if they were - who would I say them to? LOL

Huh? I can''t think of any word in Mandarin that sounds like "poop." You can always swear at someone who annoys you.

Good luck with your move and stay in touch please.

One thing I noticed there is that as complicated as the language is, it is compounded with all of the dialects and accents. As the story was viewed by me (and I do not claim expertise lol) instead of saying "thank you" correctly, she was saying shee-shee and making a lot of local Dalian girls giggle and blush.
