I have this beautiful little ring that I dropped off at the jeweler the other day to have the prongs retipped.
I was told while I was there that it was a miners cut diamond.
My question comes in with.. What is a miners cut diamond? The jeweler was very reluctant to say much about it.
The ring was picked up at a yard sale by my daughter a few years ago.She had bought Mommy a pretty for .50 . I''d like to know as much as I can for when I give it back to her.
Any help is appriciated..
I also hope that I read the instructions correctly on pic loading.........

Hi val.

How neat you have an OMC, and better yet, it didn't cost much and was found at a yard sale!! That's really great. They are neat old stones. If you do a search on here for "old mine cut", old miner", mine cut", you'll get lots of threads, some with pictures also.

Here is a link that gives the history of the round brilliant, in which the Old Mine fits.
