Hi guys. I have been one of lurkers of periscope forum for last couple of months. Currently I am looking at diamonds for an engagement ring for my 5 year girlfriend. Thanks to you guys I have learned a lot. Right now I am working with Carrie at James Allen to find the best diamond my money can buy. I think the CUT is the most important critaria and I want to have a very sparkly diamond just like my girlfriend

So I narrowed down to these three and I am trying to decide which one I want to have her bring into her office so she can makes pictures of it for me. (photo, firescope etc.) Here are the two.

1.

According to Carrie the Main inclusion is white cloud under the table

the # 2

GIA
1.00 Carat
G
SI2
62.2% Depth
55% Talble
Girdle Medium to slightly Thick
Polish/ Symettry EX/EX
Medium Blue
6.37 X 6.43 X3.98

The main includsion is a significant feature at the girdle. Carrie says it can be hidden with a prong

3.

This one has some inclusion at the edge of the table.

They are all ideal cut diamonds. I am leaning toward #1 (hence more info. Sarin etc.) I like the size and the proportion (I think) It is cloest to Tolkowsky's Cut. But I may have missed something so I am checking with you guys

. None of the Florence she says will have cloudy look and if anything it should help the G color to shine whiter. Also this is just to let her know which one to bring in so I can get more detailed images. Thanks. I have been enjoying your posts. You guys are great bunch of people

Chocy,

Welcome to Pricescope.

#1 looks really cherry, and should be a clear choice to bring in:
a) consistent with the reasons you've mentioned, you have data on it
b) the data is good, showing an HCA of 1.4 TIC, 4 excellents to boot, and
c) right within contemporary AGS 0 parameters
d) and, perhaps with polish keeping it from AGS 0 score, and submission to them
e) a possible additional value to you, since polish shouldn't mean all that.
and #2 has less data, so you are clueless as to how well it's cut, and by the way, it's clarity is inferior.

I'm guessing #1 will be hard to beat.

Give my regards to Jim, who has a good reputation here; I also got my wife's engagement ring from him, also having him call the diamond in for us.

Maybe one of the professionals here can comment but the facet pattern on the first stone is not great, I don't know if these are extra facets we see in the top down view on the AGL report? Another thing to be careful about is the Very Thin girdle - okay if only in one tiny part of the stone but not good if it stretches for longer.

The 1.04 has a thin to medium girdle, no?? Thin is ideal. I think this should be okay, unless I am missing something...

The proportions do look good. However as I understand it, fluorescense is kinda a personal thing, and with medium blue I am wondering if this stone is going to show it in any way that you personally would not prefer. Some folks love fluor, some hate it, some don''t care...perhaps you could ask Carrie about this specifically so you are informed.

Good luck!

I like the spread on the first one better. The second one''s spread is a bit small for a one carat.

I have a G with medium blue flourescence and I love it! It''s very very white and sometimes it has a slight purple/blueish glow in the sunlight.

I agree . . . #1 is calling to you! I like the spread, all the angles look good . . . yummy!

Do all posters here like the drawing on the AGL sarin report on the first one, it looks like the symmetry is way off? Does the diamond have this or is it just the chart? I notice the GIA report says Excellent for symmetry but that chart looks way wrong.

bad scan of the report itself.
its just a drawing thats used on all the round reports its not diamond specific.

Thanks Guys! Yes #1 more and more I think about hits all the right #s but as couple of you mentioned the drawing is what is bothering me the most. I am not sure if they really mean extra facet? if so what would be the consequence? It is rated (EX) for symetry and can I trust that rating after seeing this drawing?? Thanks guys again.

I did talk to Carrie and yes Their Flour she said will have no impact or positive impact. So I am actually in favor of it at the moment. Thanks guys a bunch and man great advices. THanks

OH THANKS!! so I can trust the Symmetry rating then!!. OK This will be the one to bring in then. I can''t wat till tomorrow to let her know and tuseday to get some pics!! I will let you guys know how it is!!
