Heavy Snowfall Coming

I hate the sound of hail!

I don't cook much, but I have ingredients set aside for cooking today. Bone broth in a box, 2 marrow bones from osso buco, a turnip, onion and tortellini. I forgot to check if the bag of spinach is still ok. Yay! Soup day!

I freakin love soup! Could eat it in the dead of summer even! It's one of those things I can just make without a recipe and it comes out fantastic.

We got a few inches of snow and then some sleet afterwards. Not a big deal for digging out, but enough to close all the schools in the area. I'm about to get started on my she crab soup which should be ready in time for lunch.

I have boston baked beans in the crockpot. I hope we don't lose power!!! :o

We want to hear from everyone in snow land. How is it where you are? Bonus points for pics of snow and or your awesome cookery! :))

Well it's coming down pure ice here now, I have already shoveled the driveway and walkway twice (since 9am) and shoveled out the back and deck for the dogs. DH is at work but he is getting a friend to come plow us out since it will be too heavy to shovel with the ice.

We are supposed to get up to 18" and I'm just guessing we already have at least a foot with six more hours to get through. This is a picture out my front window.

We got around 18 inches and up to a few feet in the drifts. It was a bear digging out. Snow is still coming down but mixed with sleet now.
Because of a bathroom redo, our cars had to be outside as the tilemen are using my garage for cutting the stone.. Thank goodness we haven't lost power.
Hope everyone is staying safe and warm.

I don't miss this....lol But good that you're at home. My colleagues in DC told its not too bad there. I told them it was great here. Of course I got razzed for that comment...lol.

Well it looks like the storm is really delivering in most places. I peeked through the blinds to find only three inches seems to have fallen here downtown. The videos on weather.com show a much more powerful storm. I am guessing that here in the city there may have been a lot of rain mixed in, dissolving the snow on the spot. I imagine it is very slippery and salty out there! I will stay in anyway and keep myself busy.
Deb, I tore two rotator cuff tendons, fraying bicep tendon at attachment to the labrum, which too is badly torn, and insulted some other tendons which are now inflamed with rage, all in the right shoulder. I had a Platelet Rich Plasma injection a week and a half ago and have been going to physical therapy. I do have less pain now, but these are slow healing.

Remember wet snow is the heaviest snow. Best to avoid buildings with flat roofs.

I am very sorry to hear about your injuries, VL. They sound serious. I am sending good thoughts and prayers. I hope that you are giving yourself some cooking therapy today!

Hugs,
Deb

Well, your house is beautiful to look at, StephanieLynn. It looks like a rural idyll in the snow! I'm sorry about all the work.

Deb :wavey:

Thanks Deb, but the yellow house is my neighbor across the street, basically we are the only ranch on a street of 1800's colonials

How are things in your neck of the woods? DH says not a lot of jobs coming in so it looks like power outages won't be a concern (fingers crossed)

The snowfall has finally wound down here in Maine. We got about 15 inches with deeper drifts from the heavy winds.

I wish my school district would call their delays early, but no. If we have one I'll get a robo call at 5:30 in the morning telling me I can sleep an extra hour. Gee thanks.

edited to add:
Just heard the first snow plow of the day go by.

So much for global warming... :silenced:

It's really climate change DF.

We didn't get much snow at either home. Lots of ice though and it's freezing and will be for a number of days so please everyone be careful.

First 2 pics at beach and last one city.
