For a while when we lived in Virginia, my daughter attended an independent school (in Maryland). One of the teachers kept a chinchilla as part of the science class. My daughter visited that chinchilla every day after her classes (and she was a sophomore in high school). She was also volunteering at the Great Dane rescue. I remember her asking for a chinchilla and a Great Dane. I don't think I had ever seen a chinchilla up close before then. They are unbelievably soft and cuddly!

Chinchillas are super sweet Deb. My sister had one while she was in veterinarian school and after. The Chinchilla's name was Shayna. Such a sweet baby. It was before phones as cameras so sadly I have no photos of her. She was so soft and loving.
