Is hearts on fire or Tiffany''s worth it. I would need to go down a quarter carat to afford their prices.

Is the name brand or image of HoF and Tiffany worth it to YOU? If yes, then get them. If no, then you can find diamonds of the same caliber (firey and sparkliness) online and in brick & mortar stores for less.

name does nothing for me. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with a woman that couldnt stop telling me how much better they were than an AGS 0. 1 CT H & F stones are about 10K. Give or take the specs.

Well, is she a salesperson for the HoF?

I'm very sure you can find comparable AGS0 stones without having to pay the price of a Wallets on Fire stone.

The "A Cut Above" (ACA) brand at Whiteflash has been favorable compared to HoF by many posters here, and the price is more reasonable.

You didn''t say what color and clarity you are looking at, but here are a few options:

1.073, F, SI1, $7078 http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-179744.htm

1.011, G, VS2 $7635 http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-54077.htm

You need to compare like to lke. Not all AGS0 diamonds are Hearts and Arrows stones with a superideal cut. Not all H&A diamonds are the same, either. The WF A Cut Above brand is comparable to HOF. I own both HOF and ACA. They are beautiful diamonds.

Absolutely there are equivalent stones to HoF!!! WhiteFlash has already been mentioned, and Good Old Gold has an outstanding selection as well. I have bought from both and would never pay for the HoF name.

You''d do just as well to buy from WF or GOG, and you''d save a bundle. I have bought from both and have been very pleased.

I second/third/fourth everything that has been said about WF and GOG.

In general though, I would say that paying a bit more for a top cut is DEFINITELY worth it, but paying for a brand name is only worth it if it''s important to you.

well, you def. don't want to pay for something that doesn't mean anything to you. and you def pay big money for those two namebrands.

If you only have one foot why buy two shoes, unless the particular style you want only comes with two ? (don't try to break this analogy down to far, it falls apart pretty quickly)

So, saying that, I want to point out that the Hof and Tiffany regular ole rounds are not patented unique cuts. Because of that the beauty of the diamond is not unique to them but rather is dependent on all the angles and the precision of the cut--which is a science, the knowledge is out there for anyone who wishes to take it and anyone with the skills and tools to use it.

So:

can tiffany and HOF hire ALL off the worlds master cutters?

of course not.

Thus, there must be some other master cutters who are capable of cutting diamonds with the same angles and the same precision--and they do. You just have to learn how to identify them.

Which means that you can get the diamonds of the same appearance and craftsmanship without the name brand--so if it doesn't mean anything to you don't pay for it

Just as a person with one foot wouldn't want to pay for two shoes unless he/she had no option.

I would get a Whiteflash A Cut Above diamond and bring it to your local HOF dealer. Compare the two stones and if you like HOF better and would like to get a smaller stone, then go for it. I guarantee that you won''t be disappointed with the ACA diamonds from WF.
