Hi everyone,

I am a newbie to this site. Just spent the last hour reading past posts. Very interesting topics and responses. My question is about the Hearts on Fire diamond. I haven''t seen one in person yet, but I saw one on that TV show...Who wants to marry my Dad? Anyway, it looked so BEAUTIFUL!

I went onto their website and read up on it a little. They say their diamond is perfectly cut and to prove so, if you reverse the diamond and look at it from the bottom, you will see 8 symmetrical hearts lined up. Other diamonds have the hearts visible but are not perfectly symmetrical...Check out their site if you guys have time...www.heartsonfire.com

Before my interest in a Hearts on Fire diamond, I was interested in the Lazare diamond. Anyone know of these two brand diamonds? I am in the process of shopping for an engagement ring within the next couple months. Thought I''d check with you diamond nuts for some advice...hee

My budget is 12K. I would like to get a G-I color VS1-VS2 quality diamond, ranging anywhere from 1.25-1.75 carat. Of course ideal round cut. Any suggestions? But I really am attached to getting a Hearts on Fire diamond...

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Last month my husband bought me a Hearts on Fire three stone ring with a 1.24 carat center stone from our local jeweler. The stones are absolutely gorgeous and are ideal cut. However I had been doing some searching with some of the internet vendors here like Whiteflash and Good Old Gold and I am convinced that I could have found just as nice of diamonds for less money by buying online. My husband wanted to buy locally from a family owned business since we also operate a local family owned business. I have no complaints with the beauty of the diamonds, but there are less expensive alternatives than Hearts on Fire.

Hearts on Fire is just one brand of diamonds that display the hearts & arrows pattern, there are others that are less expensive (such as Whiteflash's A Cut Above diamonds) and non-brand diamonds that display the same patter which are even cheaper (though you ahve to know what you are looking at to find them, of course if you don't know what you are looking at should you really be apying for it?).

Jason that is bad form to directly advertise.

You need to go back and read the rules or you will find you are shunned or banned or both.

Both HoF and LK to the best of my knowledge accept slightly steep deep combinations of crown and pavilion angles that many consumers and vendors around here would not select.
HoF are H&A''s, LK may not be - but I remain unconvinsed about the benefits of H&A''s over high symmetry once the proportions are well withingn ''sweet zones''

thanks for the advice - I am new - noted - thanks jason

i have seen both brands.there''re some nice sparkling stones and there''re duds.as long as the stone is nicely cut and performs well ,it doesn''t matter branded or not.

Milly--

I have seen an ideal cut HOF right next to an ideal non-HOF and I can definitely see the difference. The HOF definitely looked a little better in the Jeweler''s light. However, it was not SIGNICANTLY better, and was alot more money. Only you can decide if it is worth it, and can maybe go down a color and clarity and still face up the same on a HOF. But, for the same color and clarity, the difference in price will be alot!!

Thanks for everyone''s help. I am currently doing more research on H&A diamonds. I did not know there were other companies that cut their diamond like HOF. I definitely don''t want to pay the premium for a brand name, I don''t need that. I much rather spend the money on a bigger stone, better color or clarity. Thanks again.
