I bought a Hearts on Fire Diamond. The price was $2,195. When I got it I did not know anything about diamonds. I just bought it because it said "the most perfectly cut diamond". After reading a little bit I think that I pay more than I should. I want to know if I can buy a better diamond for the same or less money! Here are the specs.

Shape: round brilliant
Measurements: 4.96 x 4.99 x 3.08 mm
Cut: AGS Ideal 0
color: AGS 2.5 (I)
clarity: AGS 5 (SI1)
carat: .466
depth: 61.8%
table: 57%
crown: 15.1%
Pavilion:43.2%
Crown angle: 34.9
Other

angle: 40.9

Should I returned or its fair the price?

Hearts on Fire is a lovely cut stone. There are many round stones that are well cut, and just as lovely, so what you paid for is mostly the brand of the cut, and the "perfection".

If you are looking for a "better deal" there may be better ones out there. Are you willing to consider these, even though you have already purchased your stone?

That means that what I paid for my HOF is fair? Just because is a HOF? I can return it, that's why I thought that you or someone can help me finding a better deal but with better or equal quality. thanks for your advice! but the price was fair?

Fair is all relative...but if I was you I would return it as fast as I could and buy the .59 C at GOG that Nicrez pointed out or something similar in size and specs and performance to the HOF you bought for considerably less.

I would return it if you are comfortable buying online. (Which is completely safe if you are smart about it.) You should be able to find an ideal cut stone in this size for approximately half or a little more of what you paid from one of the internet vendors. Use an independant appraiser to make sure you rage getting what you pay for, and you should be good to go!

The stone you purchased will be a beautiful stone..no doubt..but what i think most are trying to tell you that its really up to you to decide if you got a good deal. if you love what you have..then yes! you did. i dont think you can go wrong with a HOF..but, there is a pretty big price mark up.. the stone from GOG that nicrez recommended is a few hundred dollars more than yours..but has a higher color, clarity and larger size...and its a H&A..most likely a dazzler. so, in the end, its what your comfortable with and if you would like to search for other options on line. good luck!

Well, if your only concern is if you can get a similarly well-cut diamond for a much lower price, yes you can. HoF has something like a 40% mark-up but there are many alternatives out there that will give you the same look for much less. Check out some of the examples posted above.

One H&A may be different from all other H&A, but they would be darn close.

I disagree that the premium was 40% - looks more like 300%, taking the three below into account. I frankly do not believe that the H&A standard would allow for stones three times more brillaint than others, HOF or not.
