Hearts on Fire Diamond Advice..

Recently, my fiance and I took a trip up North to visit his mother and on the way back we discovered a large diamond store and decided to drop in...

I've been looking for a new ring to replace my cluster ring for some time now and while I thought I wanted a lower color stone they just did not appeal to me in person. At the store, we saw the Hearts on Fire display and decided to take a look, the sales person pulled out "Lady Di"a new and I fell in LOVE! it's hard for me to stick to one thing, but since then.. all I can think about is this ring! The price is 5k for a .50 ring and I think that is a bit steep, but the stone is the up-most quality if I''m not mistaken, it was a G/VVS1 .. to make a long story short while I love this ring I would like a bigger carat size but.. 1ct (1.50tw) is $17k! and while we can do it, that's a new car... :/

So, my question is.. Whiteflash, cut above... does it compare? The only concern of mine is that they don't use cut above stones as side stones of the ring and HOF uses the same cuts all the way around... same with Brian Gavin love his work.. but still a concern.

This is the ring I love..

Hmmm, why do you think Whiteflash and BGD don't use signature melee/sidestones? BGD website clearly states that they use their signature melee with their signature settings and I'm sure they use it in their custom work. Same with Whiteflash. Both companies produce topnotch pieces using amazing diamonds. The only thing missing is the crazy over inflated price.

HI there Luna! :wavey:
Well it certainly is a very pretty ring. I'd be a little careful with the prongs in that design, in that they are a little 'sticky-outy'...which of course is a major part of their charm. But...there's no pave on the shank, so there's a plus for durability! :wink2:

There's probably nothing to stop you comissioning or finding another ring with a similar design.
HoF ARE beautiful diamonds, but if you shop carefully you should be able to find something similar from other vendors which will meet your expectations.

I have a HoF ring, which my husband gave me for an anniversary. It had 5 10-pointer stones in it. I wanted three more diamonds on each side, and took the ring to my trusted friends in Perth. I am also friends with the salesladies at HoF! So of course I confessed what I was doing.

They made me feel very worried that the ring would turn out badly, because the diamonds would be poorly matched. But do you know what? The ring turned out beautifully, and the diamonds ALL look great.

Definitely go with a finicky, experienced diamond vendor / manufacturer though!!! HoF is definitely quality, but is targetted at a more retail-level customer, who enjoys the whole store shopping experience.

Wow when I read this post it made me smile. Reminds me of the EXACT questions I had. I started my search nearly a year ago when my girlfriend and I found HoF diamonds at a high end store in our area. Long story short stones from WF, BGD, and Infinity are comparable in every way to the HoF stones except w/o the markup.

I was skeptical at first so I coughed up the dough to have a WF ACA stone shipped to a nearby appraiser so I could compare. Let me tell you, they more than comparable, and this was w/o the "biased" lighting at the store that the HoFs had. I saw the WF in natural light and they were amazing.

Try searching "HoF vs WF" or "HoF vs BGD"...that had some good results when I last searched. Also you can search my posts...I took a video of the WF diamond but they are kinda grainy from the upload.

I think WF and BGD stones are definitely comparable if not better... And if you're on a budget, I would contact IDJ as well. I have earring jackets from them and I am amazed at how much sparkle they have. I don't think you'd be disappointed going with any of these vendors.

Whiteflash's ACAs and BGD's Signature diamonds are of equal cut quality compared to HOF's diamonds. They also use their signature cut in melees. With their pricing, I am very sure you can get an equally beautiful diamond with the same stats for half HOF's pricing.

Hi,

I have an ideal scope and have looked at ACAs and HOF under the it and they look the same. ACAs are gorgeous and much more affordable! And, interestly, I did see one HOF under an idealscope and it was NOT cut as well as the other HOFs. Not sure what the deal with that stone was, but having that name doesn't mean anything unless you've confirmed the ideal cut under the scope!!!

That Lotus ring is made by Leon Mege, so I would not want someone else to make it or a variation of it because you will likely be disappointed. Yes, both WhiteFlash and BG will compare with HoF with much better prices.

These run a little less than the one you posted if you decide to get the Lotus ring through WF:
