Hi all!

I've been trying to get better at looking at H&A pics and seeing if it's a good H&A stone or a near miss. Please take a look at these 2 pics and point out any flaws you see. I can see one in the hearts pic so far, let's see how many I missed.

For the purpose of this thread I'm being ultra-picky. I'm trying to learn what to look for.

In reality I'm not concerned about any flaws in the hearts or arrows at all. The stone is already bought and paid for, and nothing said in here will bother me. Besides, it's a small stone. So please, nitpick away!

True, I collect them, but I'm far from an expert especially in the finer points like judging H&A pics. In fact I'm such a non-expert that I make my choices by relying on the experts at WF and BGD.

I'll agree that I know some. Compared to the average person on the street I know a lot. But I don't know much at all compared to folks like Lorelei, Stone Cold, Yssie, and the others that I'm hoping will chime in here. Compared to what some folks here I've barely scratched the surface.

I am sorry I missed this, although I wouldn't have felt qualified to judge hearts images. But I do think any of BG's signature stones are a very safe purchase! If you by chance check the forum, I hope you will consider coming back! You have a great collection and we love to have a look at your newest diamonds! I hope you didn't think anyone was deliberately ignoring you. I hope you are safe, as well. Are you back in the US yet?

And a very late (sorry!) response to the actual content - symmetry across the 1o'clock - 7o'clock axis would indicate artifacts of photography. Other than that it's just too pixellated to compare minutiae I think.

A while back a couple PS'ers spotted me on another forum and sent me messages asking me to come back here. Finally decided to stop in for a bit, here I am. As for my whereabouts, I left Iraq shortly after my last post, then late last year I redeployed to Afghanistan. Early this year I discovered what turned out to be cancer, so now I'm home on disability leave for treatment.

Thanks for a little feedback on the pic, although it doesn't really matter now. Yes, the lack of responses is the reason I left, I was just annoyed and disgusted at the way I couldn't get answers. I'd hoped to take what I know about diamonds up a level so I could be more help around here that to say "Looks nice to me, but wait for xxxxxx to get here for more info". But the very people that I'd have been helping field the questions were the ones I needed help from. No matter, it's not going to happen. Such is life.

As for the stone, it's one of several loose ones I got with a big project in mind that may or may not ever happen. But I do have a nice pile of loose rocks sitting here to stare at. Plus I did use 2 of the stones on a smaller project just this past week.

Oh Andelain! It makes me feel so sad that you felt that way and I am sorry! I am sure you have many friends here who are sad we let you down, although unintentionally for sure. We have missed you!

As for the other - gosh, I feel like a total berk. DS said it perfectly - I have no idea what was going on or why I didn't respond, but it definitely wasn't intentional, and we *definitely* didn't mean to drive you away!! But I'm glad you're back, we've missed you!

Please DO start a new thread with your new pretties and project plans - it sounds like we have a lot to catch up on!
