Heard back from HW with 2 rings to choose - pls help to choose

Finally I heard back from HW today. The guy sent me info for 2 micropave cushion cut rings.

#1 - 1.53 carats, F color, VS1 clarity - $32,700
#2 - 1.81 carats, F color, VVS1 clarity - $40,100

Do you think #2 worth the additional $7,400? I heard you can negotiate the price with HW. Anybody knows how much discount I shall expect? Also, I remember I saw someone else here who bought an e-ring from HW. She was given 2 rings to choose from as well. I wonder if they like to only let you choose from two?

Are these prices for the diamonds or for the fully set e-ring? Are they for the same setting?

The price is for the whole ring including the setting. The two rings are the same setting.

What is the different in measurments between the two diamonds?

Off the top of my head I would say "no" it is not worth the extra money for the larger ct weight. The diamond is haloed already and the halo is the great equalizer in terms of spread. Since the halo will likely add about 2mm in diameter to the diamond, that will far outweigh the .2 ct difference in diamter between the two diamonds! So I would save the 7k. Plus, the clarity is a big part of that price difference and frankly, VVS is overkill (unless you like knowing it is a VVS, and then only you can put a value on that).

We really need to see pictures or the certs for the diamonds to judge. HW carries a range of cushion styles in these settings - some are modified, some are chunky, etc.
