How significant is a difference in HCA scores of 1.0 and 2.4? Will I really be able to tell a difference in the sparkle, brilliance, fire, etc? Or will I be able to tell more of a difference between .80 carat with a 6.0mm diameter and a .90 carat with a 6.2mm diameter? Both are GIA certified as excellent cut. The stone with an HCA score of 2.4 has excellent symmetry and the stone with an HCA score of 1.0 has very good symmetry.

Thanks

Depends why they score as they do. Post all the proportios on both reports, or just exact carat weights and report numbers, and we can tell you more :))

That's a small size difference - visible if you're comparing them loose or set side by side, but IMO not "memorable" - as in, if she sees a 6mm in a ring and then five minutes later sees a 6.2mm she's not going to note and remember a size difference ::)

.90 carat, GIA 2131542758
.80 carat, GIA 2115923231

Numbers on both of those look fine, no flags on anything else either.

Will you see differences between the two, if you have them side by side? Sure. But IMO they will have the same 'type' of light return, and we could not state that you'd prefer 1 over 2 or vice versa from just the reports. Are you able to see them in-person before you buy? If so - let your eyes pick! If not if you can get some photos or a full scan from your vendor that will tell us more (GIA averages around 8 sections of diamond, then rounds, then prints those rounded averages on the report, so we have no idea what ranges are going into them, and we can't tell you anything about optical symmetry..)

Also, if you can't see them yourself - have you confirmed with the vendor that they are eyeclean to your standards, whatever they are (do you want clean from 6"? from 12"? faceup, or from the sides as well?)... different vendors have different in-house definitions of the term 'eyeclean' that may or may not match what you are looking for.
