Do we have this application iphone and other smart phones? I think it will be very convenient for diamond shopping at B&M stores

nope, none so far.

you know, i second that. was just in stores today (to keep the GF guessing) and thought how useful it'd be.

i've been meaning to toy around with the iPhone SDK. maybe I can try tossing something together with a bogus equation, and if you all like, maybe we can discuss getting the real HCA into an app.

'course, from the pricescope side, it might be totally easier to make a web app and a link to it up top. though a native app could let you keep track of all the diamonds you've looked at...

thoughts?

ETA: funny story about going to the mall. when the GF and I were there last weekend, we stopped in one place and the sales assoc. said she'd pull in diamonds from 'vendors' ahead of an upcoming loose diamonds sale for me... hence going today. super nice lady, doing a fantastic sales job (telling me they're great rocks, untouchable prices, she really likes them, whole nine yards)... but she's trying to push these two .90ct G,H VS2,VVS2 (respectively) diamonds for $400ish more than the .84ct ACA I bought... except, they're EGL certified, no _real_ cut info available, and when i ask her about the cut grade she just answers with symmetry & polish info (g, vg). now i'll be the first to admit i would have caved without all the knowledge and help i got here at PS (and yes, that's pretty sad to think about)... but given that knowledge, i didn't even need the loupe, much less an IS, to tell that the cuts were, well, crap (at least, for the price)... and that's with an amateur eye in a store with ~10kW of lights. anyway, i digress... aside from really, really appreciating all the help i've gotten here, i just thought you'd all think it amusing to hear about the sheer amount of wool they try and pull over folks' eyes.

(note: i know that being a salesperson is exactly her job, and i fully believe she did it *fantastically*... i'm not trying to say anything bad about her, the store of subject, or the service i got (though one could argue whether selling such diamonds is really good service)... i'm solely referring to the (staggering) difference in quality sold there (mall) vs here (PS vendors).

I like the idea of the native app being able to track the diamond you look at. We can adopt the concept of Shazam app.

Yea the Mauls can be "fun" sometimes. Sometimes I get stuck going to them with my FI and well sometimes I might get bored...
If this happens to you here is a game to play that I have done with
her ring . Put her ring in your pocket and wander in there looking for some quality jewelry and see what type of crap they try to pass off as an alternative. Then wander into the next one with her ring on and see the difference in what they suggest or in some cases they might even just admit they have nothing like what you are looking for.

Although it is not a native application.
The HCA page seems to work fine with the IPhone.

maybe in some future we can have a native one.
