So this is a followup to my original post which has kind of died out. I''ve been reading and searching and the more I learn and the more I look the more confusing its getting! I think I''m trying to find TO good a diamond for my price range. Does anyone want to offer suggestions on a round 1C stone with an Ideal cut? I was trying to stay D-G range under SI1 for under 5500 if I could. I''ve found a few that look nice but I cant really imagine what they will look like in person. Thanks for any suggestions. Here are some I was considering:

If you want more diamond for your money, consider going down in color. Since you are looking for an ideal cut diamond (which will face up very white) look in the H, I, J range to broaden your choices.

Thanks, I''ll see what I can find in higher color grades. Any opinions on the three stones I posted?

anyone? I''m ready to buy and really need some more guidance...thanks

The first one of those is ideal cut, and I could consider it except that the inclusions look bad to me in the magified image. The other two are premium cut, so you just have no idea how they might look. I'll look a minute and see if I see any.

This one is REALLY sweet - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/1927/

Thanks very much to everyone for the suggestions. I really wanted to keep the stone around 5500 leaving a thousand for the ring...Every time I think I find a something I end up having doubts about it. Any other suggestions? I'm ready to buy and just cant seem to find "the one"

I''d seriously consider these:

1.121 H, SI2 for $5586 PS price - this would absolutely be my first pick if it''s eyeclean; a simple call to WF would let you know if it is or isn''t.

1.08 H, SI2 for $5173 PS price - This stone looks like it''s eyeclean; again, a quick call would confirm.

I know these are SI2 stones, and you said SI1...... but both of these stones look as though they are really clean.

I have to tell you my story. I was in your shoes, and didn''t want to go below SI1.

I called Brian at WF about an H, SI1 stone when I was looking for my stone, and he recommended a larger H SI2 stone for the same money. My first reaction was "NO WAY.....I don''t want to go to SI2." He reassured me, though, that not only was the SI2 clean....it looked BETTER than the SI1 I asked about.

I decided to take a chance, and he was right. My SI2 stone is COMPLETELY eyeclean. Going SI2 let me go from a 1 ct. stone up to a 1.25.

Now, I try not to buy anything other than SI2 if I can. It''s a great savings, as long as it''s eyeclean, and it lets you get the size/color you want.

My two cents.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. Both of those stones look nice, I will look into them.

I''ll look into that one as well, thanks
